How not to change shocks
Need to swap the shocks on my car as I have managed to snap one of the Koni's
Jake (Shings) re-assured me that we didnt need any spring compressors, so on easter sunday we made a start.
Evidently we did indeed need a pair of spring compressors, but as it was easter sunday, everywhere was shut, but managed to borrow one off Lloyd, obviously this only compresses one side of the spring
Then came the cunning plan, lets see how strong jubilee clips are
so after debating whether or not I need to go and put my crash helmet on, but re-assured by the fact that the hospital is less than a mile away we removed the spring clamp.
I would just like to point out that these are special Group A light weight aluminium ones, for attaching plants to sticks
but supprisingly it held and didnt snap untill the shock was safely back in the wheel arch

cant you just shove it in the arch with the top cover on and slowly lower the car into place, but that way was mighty brave, great balls of steel lol

Good pics there Rich.
Worth pointing out that I'd never done a cossie one before and didn't bank on it being quite the bastard it was.
Also- where theres a will and all that...
And lastly... the car had to go back in the garage because of the previous attempted theft on RIchs car- so leaving it in pieces was not an option.
Jake
PS- for all the interested parties- I dunno what Tiffs problem was - you could reach the window switchs with your foot.

no idea, was driving along and could hear a clunking noise, got it home, popped the bonnet to see a bluish residue around the strut top, decided to whip the top nut off to investigate further, only to find that the threaded section turned freely with the nut

it did the job though, didnt it buddy, lol
I forgot to mention that we did actually take steps to make the process as safe as possible by putting a towl over it, when we removed the clamps
