Garage attempted break in (pics)
Been round the garage to put a new set of plugs in, change oil & filter and fit a new phase sensor.
When I finished up I locked up and checked over everything and noticed this,
It must have been done over the last 2 weeks. Must invest in some more security.
Any suggestions anyone? some sort of an internal lock for a UPVC window?
or should I buy some sort of contact for an alarm?
Suppose I am lucky they did not get in, were they disturbed or could they not get in?
Bast$rds.......

I agree, very lucky!! We've got that glass at work and had a pane replaced recently, chap comes along and had the glass out in about 30 seconds without even needing to open the window
The only way to properly secure it would be some kind of metal shutter or bars bolted inside the frame.....

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Another option would be to stick the glass to the frame. Take out the beads, then fit some double sided foam to the inside face of the glass, where it meets the frame. Makes it a cunt to get out unless you can get inside to run a knife around.

Brick it up or get some bars.
Made some for a lad round near me recently, charged Ł50.
Dog is a shit idea imo, they may be a deterrant if seen, but if they are soft as shite they wont be all that much use, and you dont want 2 nasty rotties, trust me.

or just get the windows to open inwards and then put a quick release bar across the gap so that you can't remove it unless you are inside (and old bike brake cable set up so it's far enough away from the wall not to be able to reach even through a broken window) etc

i used to work for a large window company who only deals with insurance and externally glazed upvc is glazed in two ways 1.a compression gasket on the inside that you have to remove before you remove the outer bead these are great when the windows are new and the gasket is plump then the sun shrinks it and the beads can sometimes be removed not good 2.the glass is stuck in on a thick foam double sided tape and the glass cannot be remove without breaking it. so the solution bin the gasket use the tape and go to b&q or other and get some insurance approved sach jammers they screw to your window and twist over the frame fit one 100mm from the top of the sach and one 100mm from the bottom
the other thing you could do is deglaze the sach and screw through the profile into the frame fixing the window shut
