I wonder (judging by the G20 killing post) how many people are gonna jump in this thread with crap like...
'we didnt see what happened in the 5 mins before this vid'
or
'she looked like she deserved it'
or
'the adreneline must have been pumping for the copper to do this'
or
'she should have been done for jaywalking / obstruction etc etc'
etc etc etc blah blah fuckin blah.
How many more of these tragedies have to happen before people wake up to the fact that the police in this country believe they can do as they please with no recourse? No wonder so many people have lost their respect for the police.
Roll on the revolution.

don't shoot me down here but IMo there are a lot of things being overlooked here..
are you saying if he had had the blues and 2's on then he was right to be doing that?
and the fact that she was in the road and he hadn't lost control of the car..
what I am worried about is the fact that police might now travel at the speed limit regardless of the situation/ lights sirens etc and when YOU might need them they may not get there in time.
yes the speed is wrong because theres no external warning and I'm deffo not saying it was right but..
the circumstances surrounding this differ greatly to someone in a stolen car drunk etc IMO

the fact that a blind eye is turned if they are speeding or going through lights or whatever is the thing you need to question here
did you know that if you go through a red light to let the emergency services through, you will still get done for going through the light at that letting the police/ambulance/fire engine through is not deemed an excuse?
you get fined and points on your license (it's happened to a few guys at work, even though the picture they sent showed the cop car alongside and when the driver went to the police station, beause the penalty office wanted proof that the copper was on a shout, the coppr behind the desk said that it would take up too much of his resources to go and find out the information, there is a thread about it somewhere, metpol even had a say about that) no wonder peole don't have a lot of respect for the law anymore
my drivers attitude now is "they can die, i'm not ricking losing my job/house/etc to let someone through, they'll have to wait just like everyone else"

Just to add something else that I am surprised nobody has mentioned yet...
This was a 30 mph zone !!
11 pm at night. No flashing lights, no sirens, 94 mph - the poor girl didn't stand a chance!! The guy deserves to be locked up for a very long time IMO - moron.
also - he was responding to his automatic number plate recognition system, which alerted him to a passing car - indicating it could potentially be linked to a crime. In fact this data was OUT OF DATE - the passing car was totally lawful.

I dont know the ins and outs of if it would be legal for him to do over 3 times the speed limit with blues and twos on or not, I assume so, it would certainly be FAR more responsible though IMHO

Agreed, if the police themselves wont respect the laws, then how the hell can they expect to be viewed as anything other than a joke by the rest of us.
They should set a good example, I would argue thats the most important part of their job as without doing so they will NEVER have the respect of the public IMHO, and without that respect, the rest of their job becomes more difficult.
I would like to see a much harder line taken on officers who brake the law they are meant to be upholding.

i'm still waiting for someone to say that she should have been home in bed at that time on night...
the point is that there was no way he should have been doing those speeds along that stretch of road, blues and twos on or not
what if he'd had a puncture? we'd be reading about the brave bobby who was on a shout who died in the line of duty not about his excesive speed unsuitable for the roads he was traveling on
i shall reserve my judgement until i have heard what the sentance is
