Advice needed
A bird I know bought a car from a dealership the other day (08 reg Fiesta) she was happy with the car but when she got it home she tried the master key that came with the car (2 keys) & it doesn't fit the door lock or ignition also she was told that the doors lock automatically when she drives off but they don't & finally she was told that the doors would unlock individually (press once on the key for the driver door to open & twice to open the passenger door too) but it's not doing that either as when you press the unlock button on the key fob it opens both the doors.
Now, she feels a bit let down with this & hasn't driven the car since she got it home, she feels as if the dealer has lied to her.
I've told her that these are minor things that I'm sure could be sorted if she tells the dealer but she say's that she's lost confidence in the dealer & would like to return the car.
Is there anything in the sales of goods act (or something
) that states she can get a refund for the car if she's not happy with it within a certain amount of time?
Ta.

DOubt anyone would take the car back for them things.. best you will get is a replacement master key imo.
and tbh they are minor things, i know shes been lied to, but if it was me, i would get them to replace the mater key and get them to pay for the 1st service.

cant answer for the key ,the locking and unlocking of the doors is just a program of the car need to get the manual out there is a a button or two you have to press for a couple of seconds which activates it ,
you can return a car within the first 30 days if there is a major problem that cant be fixed or a problem that has been logged within the first 30 days and carrys on afterwards, dont think they will change it for a key ,play your face get a service free .

The key thing on my 04 fiesta is you have to hold the lock and unlock button on the fob till the car flashes the indicators (bout 5 secs) then it unlocks the doors individually and repeat the process if she wants to change back.
Is the "doors not locking on set off " not in an option somewhere on the menu? Has she had a thorough look? I took an 07 fiesta out for a spin and you could change all sorts - even stuff like if your hazards flash if you break heavily
Can't sort out the master one though
Maybe they just gave her the wrong key?

The sale of goods act gives SIX MONTHS warranty on any car whether new or s/h, that is the law.
It does not cover minor things, or consumables tyres/wipers/pads etc, but covers any major fault for 6 months, regardless of what lies the dealer may tell you.
In this case, you are certainly entitled to a correct fitting master key, as presumably this would be needed to programme subsequent keys anyway ?
More to the point someone else has the master key to your car, that would concern me more, old master key can be deleted from system and new one cut and programmed in, then let them sort the features on the alarm as well.

Cheers for the replies people
She's been in touch with the dealers & they've offered to put a new lock set & keys on the car for her & sort out the individual locking but they haven't said anything to her about the door's locking on drive off.

I know on the focus and on a mondeo you can turn it on by having the ignition on and locking and unlocking the doors a few times then doing it with ignition off then turn on again and a beep is heard. That turned the doors locking when driving off on my mondeo and focus but i cant remember the sequence exactly. Maybe someone on here knows it?
I did however try it on my g/f's 6 month old fiesta and it didnt seem to work.
The option to change settings and stuff with the button on the indicator stock such as the hazards on hard braking and only one door opening instead of them all is only on certain models of fiesta. My g/fs zetec blue one has the button where as my mums tdci one doesnt.
Tho im sure it can be turned on other ways as said by holding buttons on the key fob.

I found the sequence to lock the doors when you drive off which def works on older focus and the mondeo mk3 but not sure about fiesta.
1. Turn on the ignition to position 2 but dont start the engine
2. Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle, and then pull the handle slightly to reopen it (Repeat this operation three times)
3. Turn ignition to position 1
4. Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle, and then pull the handle slightly to reopen it (Repeat this operation three times)
5. Turn on the ignition to position 2 but dont start the engine
A beep should be heard
6. Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle and then pull the handle slightly to reopen again
A final beep should be heard.

if the key doesn't fit the lock or start the car then you need to be going back round and finding out why not
there may be a car mising from your driveway i someone else has got the key and knows where you live, haven't you seen gone in 60 seconds
but seriuosly, who's got your ky and who's key have you got then?
speak to the guy who sold you the car
manager next until you get it sorted
just don't leave the car there wihtout some sort of transport back again as you'll be without a car until they fix it
