Default Jaguar rear axle.... fao Rod?

Quick enquiry about jaguar rear axles...

Which ones came with inboard brakes?

Which ones are strongest?

Which ones has limited slip diffs fitted?

What kind of weight are we talking, ballpark?

Any known issues?

I believe rod runs one on his cossie? or is it just the box?

Any help gratefully received!

rod runs a jag diff not a axle , the old jags had inboard brakes series 2's and 3's and lsd's was a option from jaguar back then but most xj40 xjr's and xk8 xjr had slippers like what rod is using

Rod has the earlier diff from a S3 but his was from a Daimler Lim that comes with a 3.55 ratio and a slipper as standard.

Not sure how a atlas axle cant cope with n/a cossie power? must have been a shitty old atlas in need of a rebuild

Would be interested in the jag diff conversion for the cossie, could you give details on whats needed to do the conversion rod/mark ?

Zoo did it for Rod, I had no input in to it other than suppling the diff itself.

The best Ratio to go for is 3.54 which is pretty close to a std cossie diff, just a fraction longer.

The 3.54 is 2.5% longer than stardard I use a .83 5th in the TKO which is shorter than the T5's .8 so my gearing is almost exactly the same as a standard Cosworth .
My Diff came from Marks's Dads Diamler & these Diffs can be identified by its metal tags so look for 3.54 & PL which I believe stands for Power Loc.
It seems a long time ago that it was fitted now but no probs with it.

Any one heard of fitting the BMW E36 rear diff? a guy did here in Malta and it's said that handles 600bhp. the only thing is that the standard bmw ratio is too high 3.4 I think and when using for quarter mile than you need at least 3.9. then he bought the 3.9 CRW and pinion but cost over 1500 gbp!!! He will try it in the Next quarter mile in May
