Heres mine... this is how it used to look just before the fence down the left side was replaced, the patio taken up and reused as a border around the lawn and the decking was put down.
This is it at the back end of last year as it was just about finished being tarted up.
Its a mess again now after the winter, time to get my arse into gear and get it all sorted for the summer. It could do with a few plants/shrubs in pots etc dotted around to add a bit of colour i reckon. Its nice and simple but handy for hosting etc, relatively low maintenance too
edited to add that one day i'd like to remove the walls at the front of the photo and block pave the patio area at the front aswell as around the lawn.

before, no good for our 8 year old to play in
After
I also have this area along side my garage that I will be converting to hard standing this year, but the long term plan is to convert the garage to a tripple with a propper storage room upstairs
just need to save hard over the next few years for it.

l know what you mean, seams strange looking back at what it used to look like, so nice to sit on the decking in the summer and have friends over to the early hours of the morning with the gas heater

Ours is like a terraced 2 tier garden which is grass both top and bottom. ON the top there is a bed of plant/flowers around the border of some kind of plants that take care of them selves.
The only issue is the grass because it grown like mad in summer and weeding the beds. I'd love to concrete it but that means I really would park more cars on it!

Nice place
The trees came out today and its opened it right up, as expected.
I've still got no real idea apart from i want a patio, a pergola and not so much grass.
I'll take some pics tomorrow when I get my camera back. I thought I might as well do some before during and after shots.

first of all we cut the trees down, then we started to dig out the roots as far as we could
then we stripped all the foiliage in the garden, grass, weeds, twigs, etc
te garden then was totaly bare and we could then get it leveled, then new soil, then new compost stuff going on, then borders, then grass seeds, lots of then, probably about 20 kgs of seeds in a 20 x 40 space (the rest is about 15 foot worth of patio, then another 20 foot of patio at the other end and then the double garage to make up the rest of it
if you want gress, i'd advise that it ends up at the lowest level in the garden so as to help with the drainage, before, the garden was sloped towards the house, with a difference in height of about a foot, now it's still sloped but the difference is only about 4 inches
so get cutting
and if you have lots of trees, make sure you invest in a trailer to get it all down the tip as it's hard work
