yeh defo not a beetle/nova.
they were longer and with the jet fighter pop up.
Also this red thing has 5 stud hubs. beetles changed from 5 stud to 4 stud in the mid 50's
Looks very much like a ferrari dino replica.
can see some jag guages and what look like cortina bits of trim.
so my guess is the chassis/donor vehicle is something British Layland related.
When i restored the Aston Martin it was amazing how many parts aston had borrowed from the layland daf parts bin.
Mk2 cortina indicators, jag door handles and morris marina inner dood handles to name a few parts![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
That old white thing looks the most intrest, some sort of old alvis?
Defo worth the most money out of those 3.

If it was box then it would almost certainly be a Q plate.
Trying to think what it could be looking at the donor parts.
Id hedge a bet on the chassis being something like a triumph TR5 or 6 maybe.
depends where the engine is on it

Yeh makes sence, especially with the engine being out back.
Whats an f reg 1967? I suppose it is just possible it is a beetle chassis on 5 lug wheels.
Could look the part but never gona sound anything special.
Ive had a 1970,1971 and 1949 beetle and done major work on 2 mates bay campers, so know my way around them pretty well.
If it is a vw floor pan then if you have the money you may be intrested to know a subaru inpreza turbo engine bolts straight in!!!!
now that would be fun!!!!

that would be mad though. as soon as i get the pm where the garge is i will go down there and check it out/ask about it.
and to be honest, i would rather have a rep than the real thing even if i could afford the real one,
I only like how ferraris look, and thats where it ends,
Although i do hate the f355 and f360 reps built on mr2's
i understand replicas of rare cars, like lancia stratos, ac cobra, ferrari deno, porsche 350, rs200, but hate the mr2 based modern ferraris, as a good rep is not "that" much less than a real one.

I had to weld up one of these last year for a customer to get it ready for MOT, it hasnt moved since ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
He also has a 300sl, and a uber rare gull wing. Both have not moved in 5 years. also 2 E type jags have been sitting there since i did the welding on the merc.
Makes me sick, these cars should be enjoyed, whats the point buying them to just cover them up only to deteiorate
believe me a 1949 standard trim beetle is rare!!! i didnt have the heart to mess with it, i owed it to the car to be true to it!!

The red thing is a 'Karma'. Mostly Beetle based, and a bit shit! It's a later version with the sloping rear window (The first ones had a vertical window more like an actual Dino).
It's probably worth a couple of hundred quid max if it's complete.

Yeah, its a karma kit built on a bettle, has a 1700 engine in it
Date of First Registration 05 12 1967
Date of Liability 01 05 1997![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
so it should be tax exempt
now lets hope the chasis is solid. and the bloke will sell it,
i cant see him wanting to keep it.

Kit cars have been using the donor vehicle registration for decades. You just have to transfer a certain number of componants. Doesnt matter if your using a bespoke box section chassis or not. You will find that cars using an original unmodified chassis will just be a kit conversion not a complete new car and that should be stated on the V5. eg the toyota MR2's with ferrari 355 body kits should still be registered as a toyota MR2 as its technically the same vehicle. Something with a bespoke chassis should be registered as a kit car eg "dax tojiero" on the v5 NOT as a jaguar which would have supplied most the donor car parts.
Theres a lot of incorrectly registered kit cars out there and with the new "SVA" or whatever they are replacing the SVA with, they will likely be picked up during MoT's and forced through testing to get correct registration and likely end up Q plate if theres no documents to prove the kit build etc.

Not always mate
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...cle/DG_4022486
Ive done a lot of research into kit cars. as I very nearly build a mid engines V8 beetle and also a "brand new" GT40. But for a stupid reason decided to buy an escort cosworth instead
It basically works on a points system
Vehicles that have been rebuilt using a mix of new or used parts
In order to retain the original registration mark:
- cars and car-derived vans must use:
And two other major components from the original vehicle - ie suspension (front & back); steering assembly; axles (both); transmission or engine.
The dino rep falls directly into this category if it has the beetle chassis mentioned
If a second-hand chassis or monocoque bodyshell is used, the vehicle must pass a an enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA) or single vehicle approval (SVA) test after which a "Q" prefix registration number will be allocated.
If it was abeetle chassis with say a mustang 2 front end (very common in kitcars) and say a CVH engine mounted out back then it would need an SVA and get a Q.
DOnt forget this car has been sitting for many years. the rules were slacker back in the day.
As for my V8 beetle, i did lots of emails with a guy at VOSA/DVLA and if I mounted the V8 to the chassis I was told i couls keep the reg (my concern was keeping it so it remained tax exempt)
But if I chopped the chassis and incorporatce a space frame for the engine and transmisson then it would lose itd identity and get a Q, meaning i had to pay road tax
