CAT D is the least serious insurance write-off category.

Insurers would write the car off for being an "uneconomical repair", but it would still be deemed roadworthy once repaired.

CAT D cars have only usually suffered pretty light damage to be fair

just check its been repaired right and the cat d will go on the value of the car to the repair and also meens the car you are buying will be or should be well under market value and could be much more difficult to sell
