Not 100% but ours used to fill the street with smoke when we first got it then would clear.... thought it was the valve stem seals.... so we got em done and 10 miles out of the garage the turbo went pop.... had the turbo reconned and it was totally remedied, so it may be worth while to have the turbo checked out.

Same here mate.
My car started smoking on start up. got worse and worse, then started doing it when I come off boost and my turbo`s fucked. hopefully fitting new one tomorro.
Neighbours are going to love me in the morning lol. been in my garage for a week.
P.s could still be ya valve steam seals.

I would say stem seals where it sits over night and drips ever so slightly into the exhaust valves.
cheap and easy thing to replace so worth doing that first before you start pulling turbo to bits etc..

That's what we thought but having them done forced the turbo to go....

Mine smokes blue on over run only. Not under load or cold/hot start.

I was hoping it was the turbo but think it may be the piston rings, but it is low milage 40,903.

Any ideas anyone?

Get a leakdown test done to check rings etc.

fiesta turbo units are prone to smoke from cold, when the seals expand with the heat they normally stop untill they are left to go cold again, i remember an frst i had years ago, you to start it after work & then hide for a few minutes until the smoke cleared

I've got the same smoke problem on my Ka from cold and also on overrun if I drop a cog and let the revs run down to slow the car. I just changed the stem seals so in my case I'm pretty certain it's the turbo. Got a spare in the garage so I'll give that one a go...

My FRST did this just after the 195 conversion. It started with a small pliff of blue on startup but 2 days later I had a big blue cloud that followed me for the first 10 mins of driving. Good excuse to bin the shitty T2 and get a nice Escort T3 in there
