How can I ask....
If something is worth keeping without it getting jumped all over as a covert for sale post ?
I'm clearing out my shed and I've found something that I have no use for, but I dont know if anyone else will have any use for it or if its pointless keeping it and I should just take it down the tip.
Having several classic fords I am well aware of onces its gone its gone.
Mods please advise.....

i,v tried this before with some bits eagle, but if its a rare part its unlikley to find one on ebay....like the block i have...its not for sale but i just wanted to know what its worth...but its not for sale i,m keeping it for as long as i have a cossie
putting a what its worth post in parts for sale just makes you look like a timewaster if you are only curious as to the value of something

why can't gold members put a "what's it worth" post up then?
surely it would be a helpful part of pf to let them?
i've got lots of stuff clutering up the garage and i cold put it all up for sale, but how do i know what i'm getting rid of cheap as to what i'm asking too much for?
i've got a cossie bumper that i'm keeping because it's got 2 good side panels on it, but the bumper is broken at the bottom, how wou li go about acertaining the vaule of this once i've removed the bits that i want and left the bare scrap bumper afterwards?
if it's worth nothing then i'd take it to the tip, if it was worth seomthing to someone i'd put it in the for sale section and then get good feedback from the other party i sold it too
it's a win win situation for me and the forum as far as i can see

I think there needs to be a bit of common sense here, for a user to ask once in a while what something is worth, that should be allowed, its hardly crime of the century, however if people do it persistently as a way of trading without paying the tax then I totally agree they should be warned / banned.
I'm not a trader, I just have one item that I have no idea what its worth or if it has a value at all and as a member of passion ford I feel I should be able to take advantage of my peer's commercial knowledge as well in the same way, if I was having a problem with something I could take advantage of the collective technical knowledge.
Isnt that what Forums are ? an area for sharing information and knowledge ?
