Default Clay Bars........

Just a quick one realy, Whats the best claybar and how easy are they to use?

Having never used one before and the car needing a going over (paintwork feels "dusty" even after a good polish with Poorboys polish) to regain the glass feel to the paint I feel its time to try one and see what the hype is all about

Definately has to be easier than using G3 by hand

They are a piss easy to use, spray your stuff on that you get with it and then rub the surface with the clay making sure it dont go dry and you can hear and feel all the shit coming off, carry on doing it till its smooth then just wipe dry then polish once dry, its 10x easier than polishing!

They come with bloody good instructions on how to use it and what to watch out for etc, you cant go wrong, my tailgate felt like sandpaper untill i got this, wicked stuff!

People will say get this and that and its about 3 times more expencive, you cant go wrong with this imo!

the legs clay bar gets a thumbs up from me also! i dont use the detailer spray though when using a clay bar...i just use water and keep the panel wet while claying...take your time mate and if the clay bar is picking up loads of crap, dont forget to keep folding it over trying to keep it clean as possible

I forget the one i have, but it got highly recommended by a friend who is a professional detailer.

The difference after you have clayed a panel is just unreal! Especially places like the front bumper, bottom of the doors etc, work a treat!

I just got a spray bottle with water in, keep the clay and the area i am doing wet, and just rub the area you are doing until it goes smooth.

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detail.../prod_225.html + http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detail.../prod_327.html
Add up to couple quid more than that megs kit, and you're left with 8 litres of detailing spray with numerous uses.

Megs wax good? Ok then

your best off with the megs one.

You can get "stronger" ones but they can leave marring which would require some sort of correction after. megs one is nice and soft

Fair enough then, fair play!
Do like it, easy to use and nice finish, but prefer the more expensive longer lasting like victoria concours, less work and more cost effective, hard work though.

Contradicted yourself there, presume you don't clay often, and that you reprotect the paint after doing so?

Well I'm 3/4 way thru doing the car, just the drivers side doors and front wing to do - so far I am absolutely gobsmacked at how good this Clay stuff is - The paint on the 5 was good but felt dusty, it is now like glass.

The only downside I see so far is its bloody addictive - and strangely theraputic - seeing all them little bits of crap dissapear out of the paint is rather pleasing to say the least

Ed - I have always been a fan of the Gold Class polish, Only used the Poorboys on reccomendation from a friend and I arn't overly impressed with it - I'll stick to the Megs

I've always used Sonus green clay - works a treat.

Meguiars Last Touch looks ideal, I must give that a go - good call

Yep, just silly value, same as their wheel brightener, 40 litres of the stuff you can end up with for the price of a couple litres of crap bought from halfords.

Just don't drop it on the floor as you have to chuck it. You get 2 bars now so its not a massively problem. But I dunno where you can buy the bars separately.

I believe the trick is, to split it in half, so if you DO drop it you have another piece to fall back on
