Default metering head problems ????

quick question, if a s2 erst metering head was fucked would it play up all the time or just when starting the car

The car takes a good 30 - 40 seconds of cranking before it splutters into life, once started it drives fine with no missfires but I have noticed a low idle and lots of 'rumbling' when you lift off the throttle.

Or does this sound more like a problem with the fuel ecu ?

cheers, Duncan

To be honest mate there are loads of things that could effect the start up.. i know youve ruled out a lot of them however its prob best to just take the car to a tuner and say 'fix it' chances are they will sort the problem in half an hour!
If the car ran fine before the head gasket change then there is no reason why it shouldnt afterwards.. only the things youve moved should really effect it.. (assuming youve put the head on properly) ie dizzy, and cam timing..
I know things can go wrong at the smae time.. ie fuel ecu, metering head etc but this is very unlikely..
I wouldnt want to go to the hastle of changing the metering head unless i was sure that was the prob..

I know mate, I really hope it isnt this as its supposed to be getting set up tommorow I've got a different fuel ecu to try when I get home so maybee that might work, someone did mention to me that starting the car off jump leads can kill the fuel ecu, anyone know why as my car was started with jump leads loads of times after the headwork etc..

not checked coolant sensor yet, is there any way to check these or is it just a case of buying a new one and installing it ?

thermo time switch.....I disconnected the cold start injector and there was no difference, does this eliminate it?

aux air device, I took the pipe off from underneath the throttle body and blew down it, there was no resistance so I'm assuming the aux air device is working as it should be and open when the engine is cold.

yes we did as it has one of your 5th injectors plumbed in via the cold start

I'll try the fuel ecu, if that dosent fix it I'll try a new coolant sensor and if that dosent fix it I dont know what I'll do
