what are you hoping to do? track/rally???

also all the racing licenses are renewable(sp) annually! so if you can get some savings on your insurance (never heard of it though) the discount would have to be greater than the cost of a license.

also there is a downloadable PDF that has all the License applications on it. its only one form for all the licenses, and will give you an idea of cost! although the website is down now...

http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/m...ation_Form.pdf

thats the form. what insurance company you looking at? it will probably have a VERY restrictive non competitive mileage. my rally car has 2000 miles/year max, and thats so i can take it out for a few shake downs and out on sunny days .etc

dont know alot about track stuff as its rally i do, although the "Go Motorsport" pack will help you alot!

If you've never held a race license before you'll need to do an ARDS test as part of the procedure to get your license, this involves a full day at a race school with a theorey test in the morning and driving round in the afternoon with an instructor with you. They dont examine you for driving fast just check your safe etc etc.

Total cost is something like £400-500 for the license and test, more details are on their website but its down at the minute.

What insurance is it for?

insurance is for me whilst on track, will cover body and all running gear (he said its more geared up for the drift boys, as they cant do a lap without hitting a wall or each other)

will have limited road mileage but thats not a biggie
