Any good?
I'm still on the hunt for a cheap runaround and came across one that I quite like the look off...
It's from 2001 with low mileage (60.000) and from what I understand it's 2.5 turbo lump from BMW??
Car is a nice shade of blue, nice alloys, cream leather and comes with all the ussual toys so looks like a pleasant and comfy place to be!
Very interested to hear your opinions/experiences!![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
edit: for the record I'm used to driving big Jeeps as we have a Gl320 as our ' first' car and I used to have a 5.9 grand Cherokee for a runaround so I know they don't handle and wobble and that...

Only experience i've had with the P38 Rangeys was with a 4.6 Vogue. Drove OK but handle like barges and when they electrics go, they go properly.
Think the 2.5 Diesel is a bit underpowered too...

Hi i've got a DSE and would say they need a chip really will do mine as soon as i have the money, then would be a great car to drive, there are a bit under powered when at low rev's, I have a manual and can live with it but would have thought it will be worse in an auto, thay do have a few probs but still love the car to bits so nice to drive and lots of toys the one your looking being a DHSE will have more than mine, (Memory seats auto tint mirror front fogs 10 speaker radio plus sub) If you can work on cars yourself then go for it if you can't make sure you don't mind spending cash on repairs. but on that age and miles it shouldn't be too bad, mines a 1996 with 155'000 and still going stronge (touch wood)

It's not that one but just like it, yes.
Quite a lot of car for the money I would have thought...it's 2001 so the last one of this model...I can imagine it will feel underpowered...that's the only problem I've got with it I guess...there's loads of specialists about with a good stock of secondhand spares...
Thing is, I'm looking for a daily ride and I'm not after a particular model.
Whatever crosses my path and takes my fancy I'll have a look at so I've seen Jag XJR's, vintage Rolls Royces
and now this....I'm after a nice luxury car for driving around town but I change my mind every 5 seconds wich isn't helping lol

I've had a few P38s over the years, this was the last one [with the BMW diesel lump]:

The air suspension went in my ownership so I put it onto springs, it drove better [no tramlining on the motorway] and was more reliable and cost a lot less than replacing the entire system. It's worth doing if you ever get a fault, costs £350 HERE
Most of the problems with them are electrical now, the window switch in the centre armrests pack up and cost about £100 to replace.
I used it for towing and rarely saw better consumption than 22mpg which isn't bad in my opinion.
If you need any specific advice, PM me.

Nice one mate!
Personally I think they're a nice luxury barge....
I used to have the 5.9 grand Cherokee and that used to have the occasional electric fault as well but was mega for towndriving!
350 for putting it onto springs doesn't sound bad at all!
How slow are they? I don't tow at all but is it annoyingly slow across town or...?
I guess with the extra 45 horses and 100 nm from Stu it''ll be allright?
