Default fiesta turbo tapping.

hi everyone.
i have just got my fiesta rs on the road.
when you start it it tapps so i have bought a new set of hydraulic tappets.
i left them in oil for 1 hour. took them out the oil and fitted them. torqued them to 27 nm.
i put new oil in the engine 15/40 castrol magnatec. originaly it had 5/40 in the car.
started it let it run. still tapping. took it for a drive still tapping.
i have removed the tappets now and left them in 5/40 oil all night till tommorow.
what do you think?
if it still tapps then i dont know what i can do next.
the new tappets cost me £50
any info appreciated
thanks regards ashley

I would be using a 5W40 to start with, they can take a little while to settle fully, somethimes up to 10 miles you can hear them faintly still.

try pushing the tappets shut in a vice, wind them in & out a few times, this can help, did you check the bottom of the old tappets, if there concaved & worn then it will probably need a new cam. i normally run cvh's on 10/40

the bottom of the old tappets looked. just a circle on the bottom of it.
its just that they were tapping so i thought i would replae them.
wouldn't that push the oil out of them putting them in a vise
regards ashley.

Throw your old one in the bin, yeah, its an easy enough job if you know your way round a tool box!

Be an ideal time to change cambelt & tensioner if you dont know when they were last done.

the cambelt and tensioner are good.
i live in essex. where would be the best place to get a camshaft?
the rest of the engine is completely standard.
would you recomend getting a kent cam or a standard cam.
thanks regards ashley.

putting them in a vice will push the oil out, do that then let them soak for a while. Is it timed up ok?
