Come on lay off the lad a bit guys. I was exactly the same as were many on here at a young age im sure. Nothing wrong with being realistic and having a target of what to realistically aim for for the moment. When i was 16 my dream car was a nova GTE, i owned nova Sr's then a year later i finally saved up enough for my dream car, a nova GTE! (please feel free to laugh ) Then you set your sights higher, then higher and so on. At 19 it was a mk4 cab with RS engine then i finally got one after working 3 part time jobs while at school. By 20 odd years old my dream car was an escos, then a couple of years later i eventually got one! Now my dream car is a lambo, and i WILL have one in the next 5 years or so! (even though it looks a long way off at the moment )

The orion although it never was a great looking car is set to be a classic, when was the last time you saw one? I can't remember last time I saw one let alone a good one
The same for Cortina's, I tried looking for a good one recently and there are hardly any for sale, the same will happen for sierra's soon (if not already)
Go for it if that's what you want, other than an F40 I don't know what my dream car is, how can you aspire for something unless you know what it is

Fair play mate. Go for what you want.
I had an Orion 1.4 Equipe in pacifica blue for my first car and I absolutely loved it! One of only a couple of cars I wish I had never sold!
My dream car ever since I was a kid was a Sapphire Cossie and now I own one!
At the end of the day, everyone has a different idea of what they would like as a dream car.
Personally I have never had an interest in any car that I am never likely to own. Thats not to say that I dont appreciate them, the engineering, performance and all the rest of it, but some peoples idea of dream cars cost the same as a nice house!!
To me, as someone that will never be in a position to buy a car that expensive, those cars are pointless but thats just my 2p's worth.

Don't ask - I don't know

Absolutely - and that's the whole point on this thread. It doesn't have to be the fastest, most expensive or exotic to be something someone aspires to. Personally I don't give a shit about Enzo's, Pagani's etc costing a million - I'd settle for a black QV5000 Quattrovalvole Countach at about £50k. That's my dream car. That is an exotic I grant you, but price wise it's no more than fully loaded BMW, Merc etc and there are thousands of those about, so it's isn't unachievable. Let's be honest - an Enzo, Carrera GT et al are way out. OK, a dream is a dream, but at least this guy is being sensible.

Being rare doesnt make something a classic, it has to have some redeaming features, and the orion really doesnt offer anything to make it stand out for any significant positive reason.

thats probably true, but in a few more years, say about 5; orions will be very seldom, even when you go to shows or meets etc. people tend to restore fords with the RS Badge whilst scrapping Orions. rarity will and does push up the value by a small stretch. i dont care what anyone says.

just finding my feet
ask anyone whos owned a orion and they seem to have a nice spot in former owners hearts for some reason
ive owned 2 1.6i ghias and the reason why i loved them,, was they NEVER broken down, i never had a AA policy when i owned a orion, well until i turboed it my grey one was dumped in a garage for 4 years, changed the battery and it started first time , the interior of them was nice, the seat space compared to my mates cars was also nice, could do long distance driving and was comfy,,, was quicker than all my mates cars at the time too and it was invisable to the old bill,,i was NEVER EVER pulled by the old bill in my orion,,,, never at all and i was driving it from 18 with no licence or real insurance either and done alot of bait stuff back then also
i loved my orion,,, was nothing special but was a nice car to own and ticked all the right boxes for me hence i bought a grey one when i had my first kid,, was a car sold at the side of the road for 300 quid, was megga high miles too but the engine was mint
at the time the orion was the best choice,, if i could turn back the time for all the cars ive owned in life the only one i have NO regets about is my orion

Typical PF........... Poor lad can't have an Orion as his dream car because the IT crowd don't like them.
If he wants a MK2 Orion with RS Kit for a dream car then who are any of us to tell him otherwise. Besides, when he gets his Mk2 Orion with the RS kit, his dream car will probably become something else which he can save up for or whatever.
Now, stop slagging the lad off

Happily retired
Had a dream car at 11 (Mercedes 300SL) then realised that dreams are for the non achievers. I dont hanker after any car I dont own that seems rather pointless. As you get older you realise that life is real & dreams are not. For most life is what passes them by while they are busy doing otherthings, like dreaming.

how can you achive ANYTHING without dreaming it first ???
one of your dreams was to hit 200mph,,,, it must have been a dream before you done it else hoow else did you think about it and set the "goal"
theres a difference between a dreamer and a dream
non achiver ?, how many people with dreams didnt achive anything,,, martin luther kings dream for example, guess he was just another non achiver also along with the wright brothers, bill gates ect ect ect,, all people with dreams yet achived nothing
dreams are the reason we have evolved, thinking whats outside the cave, building tubs to carry us over seas,, then building a metal bird to fly in the air.... digging out tunnels for trains to get people to work,, horseless carts that carry people about,,,, under there own propulsion
yeah,,, dreams are for the non achivers,,, is your wife your "dream" girl or just someone you met thats just like anyother girl
