Default hi all semi - newbee needs help with your forum

write then you`d better go and make a cup of tea this could be a long one,

my names karl ,and im nearly 40, mates call me woody take your pick, i first signed on to this forum a while ago and thought great i could get into this because since about 97 i have owned a `nice 1993 4x4 saphire cosworth , not split mint but `nice ,running a healthy (i`ll come back to that later )285 bhp with 325 lft of which i was very proud of and still am today .

write this is where i need your help , i have spent the last three years setting up my buisness ,yea 3 years!!!!!!!! i now own a Waste Management License which entitles me to manage my own AUTHORISED END OF LIFE VEICHLE TREATMENT FACILITY (A-F-T) .

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A SCRAP YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Had to sit exams to obtain my license i am not a dogdy pikey scrapman! im sorry if this offends but if i had time i could write a book!

I told you this could be a long one , 24 months ago my cossie chucked its belt twating thing did all 16 valves, not the best thing to happen when your number one priority is the buisness especially as youve just spent out on new gas adjustables and not even had the chance of fitting them. so the poor old gel was covered in the corner of the workshop looking very sorry for herself eager for some affection. my "company car" (thats for another day) was in the middle of a transplant from diesel to 2.1 pinto . a smokey old landrover discovery came up, not ideal, a v8i but it was on gas the weather was crap and the price was right so buisness carried on.

about september last year when things quiet`d down i looked in the garage and promised i`d sort the old gel out along with my company car , dont get me wrong i really have missed driving her.in the last 3 years i have driven litteraly hundreds of cars and nothing does for me but my cossie. call me and old twat but hey i am. it was always ever about finding the time . which is probably why she snapped her belt in the first place.

I am no supper mechanic i take em to bits not fix em but i aint stupid and i wont pay somebody else to do what i can do myself so off i set, evenings, weekends the odd hour here and there it took ages

head off take to engineers, face cleaned up, 8 new valve guides ,16 new valves courtersey of pete at Ashfield Motor sports. engineers said followers were ok i questioned this but was assured they were ok ,group A gasket etc, you know the routine. got her back togther again primed her up rattled like a bitch!!, the "it will be alright when the followers fill up" comments went a rather un-typeable way ,cover off cams out 16 new buckets new rgc cover back on!

purring like a pussy cat quick splurt up the road - jobs a fish!!! On the stands shtonkey old konis off new coilovers on, new pads, discs ,filters, fuel pump, plugs and leads .
Sod the expense may as well get hung for a sheep than a lamb.

total cost to breathe a new lease of life into my once again "nice cossie
1600 quidish` including the coilovers ,cheap i know but hey i aint rich i`m as credit crunched as the next man ,just like everybody else. i`ve just been lucky enough to last longer than woolworths but i digress.and i just couldn`t bear it any longer.

car put back in the garage waiting for some decent weather. I CANT WAIT it has rekindled my affection for my interest in cars ( cars are like cabbages sooner all later they just become a commodity - sorry i know but its true at first it was hard to depolute and recycle a mk1 cavalier or mk3 escort but now there just cabbages i cant keep them all because the goverment has got my hands tied but thats another three hour session at the keyboard - i type crap!

so this i what i need to know, other than the fact that i go shooting and occassionly have an hour on my drums my cars are my interests im not anul about it i just enjoy my cars! which is why tonight when i got in i found my self reading some great things on this forum.

I am not here to win friends and influance people it`s just an honest opinion. i think its an excellent site ,dead helpfull and dead friendly . i just happens that my buisness is cars and i need to know the dos and donts ,do i need to register because of my buisness? if i do this is not a problem i just need to know. i have thousands of old ford parts kicking around my yard that may help people out - whats the rules?

i feel that i could make a great contribution to your forums and hey why not we only dont know what weve never been taught (double negative i know)and i`m learning all the time.did you know there are 14 different types of alternator fitted to the skoda felicia?and that youv`e got more chance of finding a bucket of hens teeth than a gearbox for a 1.4 polo ,and that the gearbox from a renault laguna is the same as a volvo 440 like i said you just know what you know. i dont think for one minute i would stand on anyones toes because i dont specialise, i work with all makes and models of car, other than the old cat c and d i treat end of life vehicles. i havnt got a yard full of cossies and mk2 escorts ( i wish ) but the odd gem turns up . i might have the same model as you misses`brothers uncles .

sorry to rattle on but i would be gratefull for a quick run down , please dont think im planning on blitzing your for sale forum or being able to answer 20 questions a week i would love to but just dont have the time im just a bloke with a `nice cossie who works with cars ,

cheers woody
