my daughters have decided we are keeping him,
Just toom him to the vet for a once over, He is a happy healthy dog
Need to think of a name for him now.
The kids are girls are happy they got a little puppy to play with and im well happy as, the vet was well fit and she gave me her phone number

never called them as my daughters want him, and my mate said if they can track the owner and make a case against them he said he will have to stay in a kenal until its over.

Dunno. But lets not blindly assume it's foul play. And if he wants to keep it he would do better to inform the Police at least.
You know what would happen otherwise someone would sue for distress of having their dog abducted.
Dogs have legs and they can walk miles. I'm not saying this is the case. But just cover your arse first. Did/Could the case lock itself by accident?
