Seperate to the car sale is a set of fully re-furbished wheels with brand new D4 tyres fitted and an original RS1600i exhaust system. This is available to the buyer for a further Ł2K.

I agree. If you want the best you have to pay, and with the S1 how much would it cost to build one to that standard - and good luck sourcing the bits....

they look very mint but in my opinion over priced, but if you have the money and dont want the hassle of restoring one why not? as im shaw it would cost as much if not more to get a car to that standard? they do like like very nice cars

as others have said yes its alot of cash but its also not alot of cash to others...
try finding another as clean and if and when you do try finding one that hasnt been restored in anyway .top concours winning s1's can sell for 10k plus and they have probably all been restored in someway not totally original.

Just thinking everyone saying "too dear" is a (potential - though very unlikely) buyer. Wonder if you'd gone to all the effort of doing the work or keeping the car in good condition whether you'd think "ah, I'll put it up for Ł2K it's just not worth more according to people with no money anyway"

We'll see Trev, us RS owners are a strange bunch, it doesn't matter that you could buy a nice M3 for the price of the S1 if someone wants a lovely Escort they will buy it.

People in the market for these types of car's don't tend to be effected by recessions etc like us mere mortals
It's just a very very small market.

Yes, we are a strange bunch, but would you pay Ł17k for an S1? I paid less than that for my Escort Cossie and it is luverly. I'd rather have my Escort Cossie over an M3 any day but there's no way on earth I'd pay that for any S1 or a 1600i.

I would buy that S1 if I had that kind of money saved up. Its immaculate by the looks. I wish I had that kind of money just laying around though.
You have to bear in mind that whoever buys that isn't looking at buying it and selling it again at a profit, they will buy it because they want a mint S1.

I think you may be missing the point???

This is a collectors S1 with 25k on it, basically a muesum piece. The person who buys it is not going to be buying it for the driving experience. They are buying it as a concourse show car or as an investement simply to preserve this great example.

This particulat S1 you almost have to look past its main purpose being a car!

I wouldnt say he was far off with the S1.

I assume hes expecting to be knocked down to 15k which seems an ok price for a 25K mile concourse S1.

Dont forget these sorts of cars are more a like a collectors piece, i suppose you could even go as far as saying art? As they are clearly not for driving.

Ł10k for a 1600i is not unreasonable usually, but id have to say with 105k miles its not really it may be a bit optomistic. But i suppose you could argue its unique to have done so many miles and be is such great shape.

My 1600i im restoring, i think ill be on for Ł3k all in buy the time its taxd and motd!! and although its very tidy its far from mint/concourse. And if i respray it thats Ł5k all in.

I know you never get your money back on restos (usually) but the time and effort involved even 10k is not unrealistic.

Id put money on the S1 selling for 15k or over.

the 16i Ł7-8k

I wouldnt say hes off his rocker tho!! when the average es cos price is 10-15k. So little car for sooo much money!! I know ive had one and gone back to a 1600i cos theyre better!

good luck finding a concourse RS500 with the same mileage as that for a couple grand on top As they are getting to be extremly expensive if and when they do come up.. 35K for a mint one with 5k miles on.

If you know of a minty minty concourse rs500 with 25,000 miles on the clcok going for 20k let me know as il buy it straight away..
