hi i just wanted to know is a 1/4 mile 400m or 500m

Over here in South Africa we use 400m as a 1/4 mile
ive rescently seen a video from the UK and the commentator said that 500m is the recocognised 1/4 mile if so then UK DRAG cars should be pretty quick
we have lots of 9 and 10 second cars @400m
So if A UK car runs 10 seconds in 500m whats its time over 400m... mmmmm
