Default Had my saph out for the first time in 4 years last night!

At LONG last I got the car MOT'd and taxed yesterday, to say I'm happy is a bit of an understatment!
Went out and put some miles on her last night to run it in.
Taking it easy for a couple of days till i get used to it again and get a few niggles sorted out. (get tracking sorted etc..)
Mechanically it should be near perfect as the whole car has been worked on since it has been off the road, I have to get the rear arches tidied up, and I have a new bumper and bootlid to go on aswell so it's looks as good as it drives.

Yeah totally, felt weird driving it, but after 15 mins it was "normal" if you know what i mean. Yeah exhaust is LOUD!
Nae sure about Crail, got some stuff I want to take care of first, and make sure it doesn't brake down.
And NO it didn't brake, but I expected it too!

Yeah it's been a while, I'm sure your wait will be well worth it though, wasn't it Kevin Sharp's 3 dr you bought???? Looks amazing! My car will never be THAT good, but I'm happy that it's actually on the road again.

Yeah i think it might need a new CV joint or wheel bearing on the front if the tracking doesn't sort it. Nae sure who's going to set it up, I was thinking AVA or even just take it out to Ricky Gauld to have it looked at before i drive it any long distances.

Lol yeah I've heard the "AVA" stories, as long as it's done properly I don't mind, there's not an abundance of tuners up here unfortunately, well no one i'd trust anyway.
I'll try and get some new pics up in the next couple of days or so.

Cleaner than your 3 dr!
It's off to the bodyshop the first week of April, still haven't taken any pics yet, sorry totally forgot. Trying to resist the urge not to drive it while it's not looking 100%, it'll all be perfect soon enough though!

Yeah it's Raymond, i know him from years ago, he's done stuff on my car before.
Nae sure on the reg, i couldn't see any plates on it. Car was vandalized pretty bad, crowbarred the bonnet open, tryed to crowbar the door open and made a c*nt of it, smashed the window instead, stole the headlights, alloys, stereo and damaged the front bumper. Getting vents put in the bonnet apparently. Looked a nice car, it was pretty much done apart from the bonnet/lights and new window.

Way hey!
Soz for nae getting back to you WRT welding, but as you may have noticed I've not been on here much since the new year. Also got a wee bambeeno here too (12 days old today) I've been trying to get 1 room in my house finished asap, but laying laminate in a house built in 1890 is not fun!!!!!!! Max 2mm over 1m............more like max 2cm over 1m on my floors!

Hows the brakes???? Get the fuel lines sorted?

It will be good to see the Saph back on the road. Speaking of which i spotted a G-reg 4x4 (flint) in Ellon yesterday. Twas not the nicest of things, but cool to see nevertheless. We're sure it had a St George's cross on the side of the reg plate. Never seen it before.

you know roughly where I am too.

Aye aye!!!!
Well congratulations to you and your mrs!!!!! I'm sure you'll have even less time now!
Brakes I have actually just sold this morning, sick of messing around with them so I took them off, and I'll buy another set that i know will fit straight on without having to use spacers etc...!
Yeah i got the fuel lines sorted out ok, I just decided to Aeroquip the lot, -6 fittings on the rail right through to the pump/tank so it'll not need anything in that dept well until after the car is well and truly dead.
The saph you saw, it wasn't G*** XAS was it??? Don't know the one your talking about if it's not, the only dark one I know of local is a J plater.
I got a hold of a DNV certified welder, some guy who helps bulid ships in Holland, so he did a cracking job of the welding, so it all worked out good in the end!
Nae running the car justnow, had it out a few times but it's going in for bodywork 1st week in April and i THINK it needs a new outer front CV, but all good apart from that.
I'll be out all the time when i get it 100%, don't you worry!

Good stuff.
The Saph XAS is an H-plate. That's my old neighbour I told you about in BOD.

PMSL @ 'when I get it 100%' From that statement, it will never be on the road again!!!!

CV's are a piece of p to sort out.

STU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The engine is sweeeeeeet!
Quiet as a wee mouse, no tappety tap tap at all, you can just hear the belts, totally glad i got it rebuilt, well worth it! I was a bit aprehensive that I left it so long to getting it all running again incase there was a problem but I've done about 250 miles so far and it's still ok!
It wasn't a noisey engine before anyway, alot of people commented on how quiet it was before i got the work done (maybe all the ones up here are dogs??)
I must say thanks again for putting me onto that guy, he seemed to know his 5hit!

Robin, aye tell me about it, i drove the car for about a week, then I just thought "NO" fix it properly, we've been through this before.... So i put it back in the garage again!
Like i said it's booked into the painters, just gotta sort the tracking and cv and its all good (for another week)
