Default Thinking about buying a S1 Escort RS Turbo

Hi. I am thinking about buying a S1 Escort RS Turbo but don't know what direction to go in. I have been into Ford since forever and I have never really properly owned one. What i'm trying to say is that, I don't know what to look for on a S1 if I was to go and look at one (for example Rust).

I know the price range varie up and down on them depending what condition they are in. I want one thats totally original and in fairly mint condition and has low millage. Whats the price range?

It's going to be my Pride and Joy and It will only come out when the weather is reasonable.

Sorry if this sounded like aload of (you know what) but I'm not very good at typing what i'm trying to say.

CheeRS guys.

CheeRS guys.

"I want one thats totally original and in fairly mint condition and has low millage. Whats the price range?"

That sort of statement you looking at £5k+ really, especially is its low miles with HPI clear.

I sold mine for just under £6k 3 years ago, its was hpi clear, and nicely restored, but no way mint and had about 90k on the clock!

Best thing to do mate is to go to your local RSOC meet, normally once a month. and see if anyone has an S1 there, i think its very important to get fammiliar with the car before you go looking so you have a benchmark to work from.

Id also steer clear from ebay and infact most classifieds ads.
Last month i looked at getting another S1, had £3k to play with and after 2 weeks of looking and spending nearly £100 on HPi checks, i gave up and bought a RS1600i instead!!

The cars were either very over priced, or about £2k but turned out to be stolen recovereds or writeoffs the sellers lied to me and also still seemed to think their cars were worth a fortune cos they are "rare".

The S1 is not a rare car, finding a nice clean example S1 is rare!

Best thing you can do is put up a wanted add, that way you get people coming to you, and these guys are generally the good ones who have nothing to hide or are not emabrrased buy the car. You get a few dodgy ones, but u can spot them a mile off as they are too keen and seem desperate!

Sadly i cant find the S1 buyers giude from fast ford, but heres the 16i, so most of the info will be relevant.

And heres a S1 modding guide, i know you want standard, but this may help you identifiy any features which are not original on a car you are viewing.

And no offence to pf but you really need to goin the S1turbo forum.....

http://www.seriesoneturbo.co.uk/

Main page you will find a full buyers guide and everything you need to know!

If you see a car in the north essex, suffolk area Id happily go with you to check it out, and if its very close I dont mind checking it out first to save you a potential waiseted journey!

No worries, just make sure you join S1turbo. Not got the banter of pf, but it is litterally a sea of information and resources for the S1
