Default escos respray prices?

What would you expect to pay to have an escos repainted in mallard green? not the inside just the outside and shuts.

I'm currently doing a resto job on a mallard green escos at the mo and i think thats what the customer is paying.

Couldn't agree more. I've been painting cars well over 10 years now and its true what you say about about getting the same finish with some cheaper materials. Price those not mean its a better product.

I work in the paint trade mate and i could supply product at £60 per clearcoat pack, but i wanted the full DuPont system, fully complient and what they class as lifetime warrenty! ( BTW, thats just for product faults in time to come )

If your keeping a car, then quality clear, will always hold its gloss, cheaper ones in time will drop in time

Each to there own. Maxmeyer is really ici / ppg , just like lesonal is Sikkens and lechler is Glasurit!

I think you will find that cash-in-hand will work out a lot cheaper. Do the maths. Find someone local to you, let them fit the job in around their schedule, pay cash, and you will walk away with a much cheaper job.

you tend to fine that people who do shit like that try to fit it in after a days work , less energy or intrest , quality slips ,

if i was paying 2+k on a repaint , id want them doing it during the day , fully focused on the task ,

get it done , get it done properly you get what you pay for imho ,

I can't wait to see the car finished, never mind the owner Mark!

I'm sure we'll have many many photos up to show how good the guys at blue oval are

One other thing about blue oval - they are pure Ford men! Its refreshing to see guys with such a passion for the old shitters

i would never get a estimate for a paint job without letting the mush see the car, i have seen a small amount of welding turn into a floor pan or new inner wings, and a repaint turn into a full resto. if the car has cocky wheel arches and dents or the body kit removing and then the sills fokin fall off with a slight poke then all that is going to need factoring in imo.

I strongly disagree with the 'you get what you pay for' comments when it comes to paintwork. Thats not always the case at all. Ive said it loads on here before on similar threads, but ive known £1500 paint jobs be better than £5000 paint jobs, so just becasue you get a high quote it doesnt mean your alwasy going to get high quality.

Its all down to the paintshop in question and the painter and how much pride he has in his work. Go on reccommendations, and go and ask to see some cars before its started, during the prep work and then go and see the finished result. Then make your own mind up taking the quality and price into account.

starting price up here is £1500 i know because i am away to get my escos painted but i think it will be above £2000 as the cozzfathwer is saying it really depends the conditon you cant name a price until the painter has seen itits like how long is a peice of string

you wonder sometimes how people start off with one price and then end up with a bill the length of their arm,a decent body geezer will have a proper look and see whats what, sometimes you won't like what you hear but thats the nature of old rs's.

i hate to think what a ford dealer would charge for a full inside and out hit on a escort cos

if it was just down to dent chips and surface rust then would be 2.5k with an escos if it was rotten and needed inner oute cills wings and bits of floor then would be more like 3.5 to 4 plus parts the one im doing now has had inner outer cills rear panel made a bit of boot floor and a few strengthening panels 2 wings cross member sorted cos it was rotten and bare metal job on the shell then all cips and dents sorted along with the rear wheel arches peicing and all in with parts it will still be under 5k

As has been said £1000 up to £5000ish

If your spending the money id advise doing it properly, ie striping off the rubbers, removing the windscreen etc.

Nothing worse than seeing a cheapo respray.

You could save a lot of money buy striping the car your self!

Id be weary of anyone charging under £2k TBH.

I have just paid £1500 for a full respray in frozen white, inside(floors, cage, fuel cell etc)engine bay, out side (kit, bumpers, spoilers etc).
Job is a1. Not concourse by any means but it is perfect for a rally/track car.
Have a look. https://passionford.com/forum/ford-escort-rs-cosworth/210172-a-lo-s-r-e-d-motorsport-shell.html

Is this going to be a road car or another drift weapon?

I payed £3600 for an Rs1600i respray, car delivered stripped, windows and rubbers out, interior removed, everything painted. The paint was taken back, a few tiny bits of welding done and a tiny bit of surface rust dealt with, then flatted and polished etc. Was a top quality job and that was at mates rates too.

I have never seen what I consider to be a good cheap respray. Anything less than a couple of K I just dont see how they can make anything on it, the amount of prep that goes into a good job is untrue and IMO its the quality and care taken of the prep that dictates the quality of the finish.

Agree!! I paid £1500 to have my Escort painted inc all spoilers, mirrors etc inside, outside and underside. Inc painting the the other colours on too. Sadly they closed down not long after

Jacko's in charge of painting my RS500.
