3 Door boot lock
Im having some problem with the boot lock on my 3 door
When you open the car using the key from the drivers door the boot lock fails to open was the first problem so you would have to go round and open it with the key and then it would stay unlocked.
After a few weeks i tried it again and when you go to unlock it with the key, the lock doesnt actually stay unlocked. You have to put the key in, turn it round and push the button in with the key still turned round. If you try either way the lock wont stay unlocked.
My question is, what is the likely problem? Do i just need the lock itself rebuilt?
Or is it two seperate problems? One with the lock and one with the centeral locking solenoid? When opening the car from the doors you can hear the solenoid in the boot moving so its def still working
Thanks

I've a similar problem on my 3dr and its actual push button on the boot thats a bit tight. Whenever I open the boot I have to pull out the button a small bit otherwise the central locking wont work. Been like that the past 2 years and I still haven't got round to oiling it up

sounds like either the central locking motor is playing up or the lock is jamming
or possibly a combination of the 2
the lock is easy to get apart and then all you do is clean it properly to get rid of the crap that gets lodged in it
then you can use some grease of wd40 or the like to make sure it's free from bits of grit etc before you put it back again
as for the c/l motor, just leave it disconncted and lock/inlock the doors to see if it moves or not
from memory the boot one is specific for the boot and it's got 3 bullet connectors on it as opposed to a plug, but that's not to say you won't be able to find a normal slave motor from another car and get it to fit

The cental locking part isnt that inportant at the min. Even if i got it to when i turn the key it stays unlocked instead of having to turn key and open cause i know someday doing that they key will end up breaking off or something.

when you pop the panel off there will be a strengthening plate where the lock is
the motor is tucked up behind here with a few screws and stuff so you need to unscrew it first, the it will unhook from the locking rod
the lock itself normally has an accumilation of dirt and possibly grit inside it which causes it to jam up, make sure you can take the plastic outer hnadle off to expose the shinet metal bits and clean both inside and outside surfaces
there are silicon type srapys you can use to give it a bit of a sliding hand
