I start to wonder if it wouldn't be abad idea to take a car and leave it in UK with somebody who would sort it. I've got great mechanic here but with no recources, knowledge and parts to check things by swapping everything takes ages and it looks like it's never gonna be driveble :-(

One sacrfices his holiday money, free time, evenings, does not buy CD's or films or clothes and no effect :-( I have holes in my jeans and drive Fiat Seicento...oh I forgot - my Fiat Seicento broke down...

Sorry people I just don't feel to well today and still my eyes ache from the heave smoke in my garage when i parked the car :-/

Just got back from Grett dealership. They've shown me my turbo in pieces, showed me there was no wear, no grinded of metal, no cracks or anything yet there are sins or steady flow of oil into ehxaust. The rear seal is as tight as possible but still it flows.

Some points they made:
-turbo on Cossies is leaned backwards so all the oil gathers against exhaust oil seal
-the pipe that goes into the sump is quite thin
-oil pressure in oil feed is extremly high - compared to the cars they usually have
-there is some oil level in the turbo all the time

I ask for comments if anyone has any.

Quiestions:
-can the part of oil return that goes directly into sump be obstrcted by anything in the sump? Is there anything beneeth it that can be bent or something?
-did anybody who doesn't have their breathers connected to the intake had this problem? Do Bailey or her multiport breathers connect to intake or are they just releasing pressure?

Any suggestions or ideas anybody?

Maybe somebody knows what exhaust side "total seal" sealings are and would they help.

Maybe Danny@RADESIGNS?

To be completely honest i dont see the total sealing ring or staggered ring curing this problem, it may help but it seems you have another underlying problem

Hi, I had a similar problem....got my turbo rebuild and on it went...about 300 km later I found that there was alot of play in the shaft..much more than there was on the old turbo. I took it back to the company who rebuild it and they found that some how the "center" house was broken in a strange way they said...when they tried to balance it it was fine 1'st time and just to be sure they did it again and now there was a problem....so in the end they put on a new "center house" and then all went well........in about 1500 km, then it started to, as yours do, smoke badly at idle only. ... I was told prety much the same things as you here, and I tried it all, and in the end I found, (hopefully), the problem. I had modified my breather system(like the Bailey kit with connection to both sides of the blok) , and in the process removed most of std. system including the "vacuum" connection from the plenum "house" witch I had blanked off. A Ford mech. said that I should try to put the "vacuum" connection from the plenum "house" back on.....I did that and now the problem seems to be gone....and the car went fine.

but I think that the corce of my problem is a worn engine ... because it should'nt be nessary to have the vacuum connection on the inlet, when you upgrade the breather system...should it ??

Could a to high crankcase pressure make the turbo seals leak at idle, even thoug I have this "upgraded" breather kit on ???

I doesn't seam right to me for vacuum to be obligatory. And why would it not smoke on another turbo??? Last 3 days I did 1500km with no problems on old turbo taken from junkyard at friendly Cossie tuner. I have stock breather without vacuum connection, but will upgrade it to something more professional, there is no chance of vacuum conection anyway as I don't have airbox and stuff.
