its not a bad car at all. Just has bad image and reputation....
couple that with the big thirsty engine AND the fact that its pretty big... means that most people dont want at that price point (they want small, and economy and diesels etc etc)
soooo you have a pretty undesirable car for most people...
AND THAT MEANS CHEAP PRICES!!! and a bargain for you matey!!!!

Vectra sri v6 can be had for as little as £600, 1k buys you a fairly decent one, my mate sold his for £900 and it was a really tidy example, there is one parked on my way to work up for £1100, T reg saloon and lucks pritty mint.

I would probably go for a 2.0 Mondeo MK2 as they're the best to drive in that category IMO.
If I wanted a touch more power and more toys I'd be looking at a 1999-ish Nissan Primera (GT Maybe), but not as good to drive as the Mondeo

If you dont mind putting the fuel in go for the Vectra or 325i.I used a brand new 2.5SRI back in 96 sounded pretty good on song,but so does the BMW or what about a Vr6
