Bloody hell... All covered by insurance I hope?
Thats it. Ive been putting off getting a extinguisher in my car for too long now. Going to get one now.
Poor sod. I guess if the engine let go first it might have been an oil fire? Either way that must be soul destroying. I know it gets said alot but at least he's ok.
The car's from Glasgow/Paisley area but you'll have seen it up at Crail mate, was pushing 500bhp and IIRC he ran mid-11 second 1/4 miles in the car. Was a fresh and completely standard japanese import when he got it, with something crazy like 12k miles on it... he built it all between him and a few knowledgable guys before getting it mapped by AndyF.
Jim is a sensible guy, I'm sure he's well insured on the car... but wishes that he wasn't having to go through the hassle of it all.
Bet he wishes he had that "cost of a cheap meal" fire extinguisher as he watched 'er cook...

Correct. I wouldn't risk myself attempting to put a fire out unless I was sure it was small. When my car is done I shall have 3 extinguishers minimum, one in passenger footwell, and one behind each front seat, mainly for holding flames/heat at bay until I can stop and get everyone out of the car.

You could get a plumbed in fire extinguisher, fires at a press of a button/pull cord. Feel sorry for the bloke though

Definately something I would consider along with hand held ones.
Times like these I realise how lucky I have been with cars over the years, Ive never had a bad accident, and never a fire. I wouldnt wish one on anyone.

Eek! Thats not nice Same thing happened to Cochyn's old focus on here, spat a rod through the block, which spewed oil onto the exhaust.
Not much of a fan of Jap stuff, but looks like a lot of time and money had been put into it!
