Just to refresh your memory I contacted Sunstar toys after purchaseing their XR3 scale model. The reason I contacted them was to discuss the possabilities of them making some MK3 RS models, after a long chat Sunstar asked for information and pictures of every part. Three hundred pictures were sent to Sunstar and many emails and phone calls were made. Colin Hill was the guy I spoke to at Sunstar Europe once Colin had all the Information he visited the engineers in China with all the pictures and info. The Enginneers studied the pictures and discussed if it was an easy project working with the MK3 shells they already had, thankfully it was all systems go and work began on the RS1600i. Colin kept in constant contact with me discussing the build and future builds. Whilst working with Colin on this project I have also helped with the 16i Cabriolet which will be coming out soon. Back to the 16i it was decided on Sunburst Red and Black to be the production colours, at this moment in time project S1 will be sometime in the future and after that who knows !!!! I have suggested Brooklyn and Datapost replica's and Colin seems keen as there are no 1/18th scale models at this moment in time.

they all helped with pictures of every angle of the 16i. Sunstar have actually copied Stuarts and Kev's car for their production model.

Many will not be able to buy one in the colour of their choice or to match their car, repaint would be an option and decal kits are easy to obtain.

Here is the prototype built by Sunstar the actual model is finished im just waiting for those pictures. The finished items are in the Sunstar 2009 catalogue and are due to be released in March 2009. You can view the catalogue buy clicking here

Here are the finished pics, the steering wheel will be changed and ive commented on the seat colour so hopefully this will be changed. When the model is released I will do a new thread without the site address on !!!

Hi Lee,

Thnks for your offer to help and support us.

I have now managed to get some images of the pre-production sample.
It is the left-hand version with a German reg plate, but we will also make
a right-hand drive version with UK plates for the UK. This sample has the
wrong steering wheel but this will be corrected before production.

Please feel free to use these images but mark them please.

I would like to finally see some BTCC Sierra's. Can't understand that nor Minichamps nor AutoArt have done a Rouse Sierra. Australian models, European (German) models but no famous BTCC car.

Very nice, that rocker cover still stands out, even in miniature. Now I wonder if they could stretch it a bit and make my favorite MK3, the RS1700T.
