i was driving around in a company l200 07 plate. it was very light at the back with the rear end kicking out in mildly damp conditions. averaged about 30mpg but often had it up into the late 40's when cruising at 60 on the motorways.

ok imo as i drive all 3 at work (not at the same time) towing a trailer delivering.

Mitsubishi L200, 56 reg lacks power but 300 miles to a tank, comes with leather seats, elec pack all standard. pretty basic but nice to drive.

Ford ranger, 06 reg 200 miles to a full tank its like a boat going round corners come with elec pack standard. leather seats extra.

Nissan narava. 54 reg Great to drive. pretty quick and does 300 mile to a full tank. elec pack standard. leather seats extra.

over all the nissan gets my vote.

Thanks for the info

I am planning to use it for towing cars, throwing mountainbikes into and moving garden earth/rubbish in large quantities, so its gotta be able to do everything

New L200 seems to have a smaller load area than older (pre 56) type????

the L200 i drove was more a tax dodge company car with A/C and all electrics etc than a real pick up. it was little use for carrying tools etc unless you get the lockable load cover.my mate had an older L200 and he said when towing 12mpg was average.

Driven them all when replacing my shogun. L200 is shit, but might be ok for some peoples needs due to being cheaper.

I think the Hilux is a bit better than the Navara but its got velour fucking seats! And the final decider for me was that the Navara has got Isofix for the kids seats, after all it a tax dodgers car innit

Latest Euro 4 spec Navaras do 20mpg and has uncomfortable seats so avoid one of them. Ranger offers the best VFM but are very basic. L200s are not bad at all as are HiLux pickups but the best I have driven is the Isuzu Denver Rodeo prodrive. Drove my pals back from Gatwick and with the prodrive chip in economy mode I got 46mpg and even in performance mode mid 30s are the norm. The build quality of the Isuzu is superior to every other I have looked at as well. Knock on the tub of any other pickup and then knock on the Isuzu and you will feel/hear the difference.

My Td5 defender usually does about 27/28 to the gallon. 22/23 when towing the car. Only car i've bought that i wouldnt really consider selling. You've got to like landrovers to live with one though!

I have an 08 Nissan Navara Adventura as a company car. This has every thing you would want. Mine is manual & I average 22 mpg around town & 29+ on long motorway runs. I also get between 380 & 420 mile to a tank. That is with a mixture of driving. My boss has an auto and gets about 5mpg less.
I cover over 30,000 miles a year & I find the Navara very comfy.

My 3 year old daughter loves going in it, she loves being up high and being able to see everything.

My mate had a Ranger, i was fairly impressed with it. I looked at Animal L200s and Navaras and the Navara felt more comfortable. Not sure i could live with it day in day out. What about a 110 landy crewcab or a bit different a Patrol?

An old shagged hilux, put some big tyres on it and a lift kit, can haul all your shite about and look good at the same time

And if your lucky you will pull up to a set of lights and that cunt needles with try and race you
