Not the red ring of death for a change

Just keeps saying unable to read disc. Thought it was my precious Forza 2 disc gone wrong but it does it with other games. Anyone else had this and was it just a case of cleaning the lens or does this mean new xbox time - im aching to get the xbox 360 elite

If it is just a case of cleaning the lens what do yo use?

 

my brother had the exact same thing , thinks the lasers fuked , had it apart n gettin a new laser £12 I think he said !!

will not know if its deffo the laser until hes done it tho, soz couldnt help

 

when my bros did this it needed a new cd drive (good excuse for the elite )

Jimbo - do you mean you do have Xbox live? If so whats your username?

 

Sounds like laser either knackered or needs aligning. Plenty of tutorials, just google it. If you change the whole dvd drive then you will need to spoof it but if thats the case then u might as well firmware hack it as its basically the same thing.
If u were near to me id do it.

I've set mine to not auto-boot if a game is in the drive so it goes to the dashboard. It will spin an extra 10 seconds or so and hang on the xbox boot up screen before going to dashboard and often I have to press eject then shut to boot the game.

Been like this for months even before red light repair not got any worse just slightly annoying if anything, worth it though for the best games console out and if it does stop reading altogether I'll just ring them up.
