Default any PF sound engineers on here?

im looking for an effects device to plug into my pa system, heres what i want to do,
certain songs need a 2 second or so sustain once i have hit my snare drum, so i need a device to be able to do this, no pedals etc as i have more pedals than feet as it is

i have a multi channel desk (to which my snare mic plugs into to) then from the desk to my cabs, my desk has effects loops on the back so i guess this is how i would do it??

effects is all new to me any help/ideas?

cheers

when you say sustain, what sound do you want to sustain?? is it the snare drum?? you could run it through a rack effects unit and set it to echo or a sustain but if you only want it for 2 seconds then you would be better with a pedal as you would need a footswitch to turn the effect on and off again after the 2 seconds...i hope that makes sense...lol
cheers

yes i want to hold the note that i hit, one snare drum hit or maybe even a 2sec decay ?

all i want is the snare drum to keep that note that i hit for 2secs to elongate the effect?

does that make sense?
a pedal is no good as i would not be able to switch it on or off, so i need a rack mount will do that i can switch on at the beginning of the song then switch off when not needed

is a reverb unit going to be good for the job?

you would have the set the reverb at maximum level. but if you only want to sustain one note for 2 secs then you will need a foot switch or someone to turn on and off the effect after 2 secs otherwise you will have the effect on for the whole song..

i want the effect to work every time i hit the drum, all the way through the song, but the effect to only last (or sustain) for 2 secs each time

does that explain it better?

ah right, get a rack effects unit, something like a behringer virtualizer (about Ł60) and hardwire it into your desk, then set it to a 2 sec delay and bring it up on the aux channel on your desk to the channel that your snare mic is on...
