its a volkera eclipse

the code it shows is 2 02 which according to the manual is meant to be no ignition but Ive took the spark plug type thing out and its sparking well although the gasket crumbled away !

Ive noticed just next to where to spark plug thing goes there is what seems to be a crack and a lot of red dust around it

er no offence mate but you are using terms like `spark plug thing` i would advise you get on to a local boiler engineer sharpish before it gets too cold again, the manufacturers helpline should be able to advise you of a local guy

good luck mate

you corgi registered?

If not you are defo risking the life of your old dears by working on it!

You have no idea what gaskets and seals are important and which arent.

Sounds to me like the spark gap is wrong or the igntion pressure maybe out.

Not for you to be checking tho.

i wasn't planning on trying to fix it myself , just trying to get an idea of what could be wrong

we had someone out to it and its the electrode lead breaking down , its gone very brittle with the heat , i am concerned about a crack in the side of what appears to be the combustion chamber and the occasion smell of gas but the bloke didn't mention it (i wasn't there at the time)

is it normal to get the odd faint whiff of gas sometimes , its not constant or strong and can only smell it when the front cover is off

he was apparently corgi registered

think they used him as he is local and could get to them in 10mins last night , they had been without heating or hot water for days

will advise them to try someone else

Get on the phone to corgi and report him.

He cant leave a gasket missing and the boiler operating its against the law!

Waste of time reporting to Corgi, they're finished in a few weeks ,GAS SAFE replaces it.

Get another Corgi registered person in to fix it and let him /her decide if RIDOR - HSE is appropriate.

.
