Let me use an analogy that Rich, Simon and yourself "should" be able to understand.

Pretend you're a bouncer in a nightclub and you recognise someone that comes into the club as an individual that kicked off the week before, now who are you going to keep a wary eye on - him or the normal person sitting in the corner minding his own business ?

By keeping an eye on the "known / proven troublemaker", you are able to deal with the situation the moment they kick off. However, it does mean that someone who hasn't caused trouble before gets away with it once or twice until they too are on the radar.

It's not rocket science, nor victimisation, just human nature in trying to police a forum . If you don't like it, stay below the radar like 90% of the people on the board do and not only abide by the rules, but don't try and bend them and get yourself "noticed" .

It's a bit different, as he called a mod "jumped up", and as Stu is very strict on not allowing the mods to be abused for doing their job, an infraction was given. It's abusing mods performing the site rules that is not tolerated in any way .

LOL, I am honoured to be on the hit list, I do hope Maria is watching me..LOL

Rich,
Dont be under the illusion this is a democracy.
When you realise and accept this and the fact its all about making money now you will find peace.

We now have a stable website that doesnt have 100 database errors a day.
Its needed to deliver adverts but I would prefer the old PF back with its errors and the users enthusiasm back but I suppose there is no going back now so I will just accept things the way they are.
Had my eye's opened well and truly about a few people I truly respected on here but at least I now know what the real score is.

I will now stay under the radar unless I see Maria online...LOL

This post has reminded me to dig out some analytics for the site.
Traffic is up 9% on this time last year. Seems nobody misses these trouble makers we are weeding out and new people are joining in without fear of reprisals from keyboard warriors.

Interesting that Ive had only one or two complaints about the rules and literally hundreds of replies to my mail shot saying they were pleased and they hope it all works out so they can enjoy the place more.

Another thing you may not have noticed is the web team are well on the ball with moving topics to the correct room, that means if your daft enough to hang about in GD all day looking for an argument, you will miss all the decent topics from the enthusiasts... yes Simon, the ones who come here to learn about the cars they are enthusiastic about.

Plenty of model specific chat every day.

Plenty of technical chat every day.

Plenty of parts for sale every day.

And thats what this site is about, its not here as a chat room, thats just what some members have tried to turn it into. Those members who use it as intended probably haven't even noticed the rules changing... funny that eh?

Westy post history.
This makes interesting reading, seems Westy, as far as i could be bothered looking which was mid last year, you have never posted in any of the Ford model or technical rooms and you only like to hang about in GD and Policies.

You have possibly never helped anyone very much with their Ford related questions and therefore do not contribute to the site's purpose of existance. I think its people like you that are bringing the site down mate... why don't you go and hang about on facebook instead?

Shall i look and see how often you visit the actual car forums instead of the chat and policy rooms as well Simon? See what an enthusiast you really are, since your the one always banging on about how its not an enthusiasts site?

Long may the new system continue.

Rich,
I know you're an intelligent person, so I can't understand how you fail to see that as human beings and despite the best will in the world, people aren't always as objective as they should be. However, that does not make the rules a mockery, it makes the rules open to individual interpretation, and sometimes some people are more lenient than others - this is why you have many mods and the reporting system.

We're not perfect by a LONG shot, BUT you have to accept that we're doing a difficult job (putting up with the likes of you ) and we're doing it for no reward and only to make the site a better place.

Sorry but,... Stu has just fired off one of the biggest ever

i know we all chat some shite on here, (or wherever i go really)
but the site really is a useful place. weather you own a ford,a shonky ol 205 or a porsche.
it IS more constructive without the trouble-makers,, BUT are we now seeing a 'new breed' trying to fill their shoes? lol.

Actually, there is TOTAL consistancy - you insult another member, and the context and thread history is taken into account and a decision made as to whether an infraction is given or not.

You insult a mod in any way shape or form for doing their job and enforcing the site rules, and you get an INSTANT infraction, no ifs, buts or maybes.

So folks, make your own mind up what you think that tells you. It tells me, amongst other things, that these guys dont come here to learn and offer advice to members on this site about their Fords... So why are you here?

Stu,

I am the first to admit I am too lazy to change pages and sit in GD.. so what, that doesnt make me a bad person !

I am a Ford enthusiast, always have been, never owned any other cars.
I help loads of people not just publically but by PM too as they often contact me directly. (all for free)
I have even travelled to help new users like for example when Maria first joined I went and sorted here car after a 160 mile round trip. (for free)
I also recomend traders like yourself and Mike Rainbird etc... on related matters.

Please dont ever doubt my Ford enthusiasm or my wish that this site be more user oriented.
You are on the payroll now so I guess you are very enthusiastic now

Granted I moan like a bitch about some aspects of the way rules are implemented but you choose to ignore the situations by talking down to me like I am an idiot when its plain for all to see there is bias against me at most levels.

My whole point is rules are not evenly applied if they were, you would silence 99% of the complaints ..IMO

Plenty of examples but then we would only be going over old ground....

can you also point out where ive said im a ford enthusiast? im here for general banter and the occasional engine related question ,no more no less. i dont pretend to be able to offer help and advice on ford cars as i dont drive ford cars.i cant really say im in politics that often either. usually only after youve moved a thread there from GD but more to the point i couldnt care less what faceless nobodies on the internet think about me or my contribution.

Stu,

Your sarcasm isnt needed but since you feel the need i will answer you question honestly:

i am here because 90% of the time i enjoy it and enjoy learning about and talking about cossies. 2 of the biggest, most popular and most interesting (imo) threads on cosworths were started by me last year in fact. My thread in the projects room and my rolling road thread so please step away with your holier than thou attitude of what i am doing here mate. You may be the sites creator and have been done over by Pet but still we were all here to supprt you when you started this place up. Now its a money making exercise and you get paid by IB which is fine but dont expect us to all jump up and down with exictement with inconsistancy.

And since most of the interesting cosworth discussions take place in GD that is where i mostly hang out as you put it.

Yes i have been involved in some arguing - mainly with Mike R and dyno's and downright bullshit being spoken about Mark Shead but thats all sorted now. This is the only time i have really ever mentioned about the rules and inconsistency other than my joke reporting of Mike R being gay - of which both of us took it as a laugh.

I have no reasoning of why i go in the muppet room, but there can be some amusing shit in there.

My point gentlemen, is since many members don't come here to chat about fords, or offer any help to other forum members, why are they complaining about how its run all the time?

And i didn't say sod off to face book, I asked why doesn't he? There is quite a substantial difference. I am genuinely interested why he doesn't join better chatrooms more suited to his posting style, and instead chooses to hand about on a Ford one yet read and offer very little Ford discussion.

People may try to argue with my past few posts, but nobody can argue that:
  • The correct rooms for an enthusiasts site are busy.
  • The people busy posting usefully are not the ones complaining.
  • The people busy complaining are not the ones posting usefully.
  • The people complaining seem to hang about in chat or policy areas only.
I didn't make it up did i? I checked only because this complaint exists, and the results made interesting viewing, so i posted them.
