Default R888 and A048 tires

Where is the best (read cheapest) place to get R888s or A048s from?
I'm thinking probably camskills but let me know of others.
Comments on the two brands also welcome.
Cheers.

PS they are for 225/40R18's for a FRS

I've got a set of R888's, had them of Martin, excellent service. The tyres are amazing for track days, never used them on the road.

You'll find the R888s are a bit softer than AO48Rs - for road use the R888s are fine and for track use you'd find the 48Rs a bit harder wearing

Tyretraders.com are also very cheap for R888's, i don't know what Martin charges but i have never found anyone to compete with tyretraders for R888's including Camskill.

Simon.

The thing is ive got my RS but i dont use it,its just a fair weather toy that i intend to do a few track days with and also a trip back to the nurburgring so i thought i'd put slicky/sticky tires on it as it never sees the rain.so it will be road with a bit of track use it'll be doing.and i know A048s are dearer but have heard they are noticably better.

Do a google search and look at the comments for comparisions between the 2.

I can only comment on slicks and A048's and have to say I was suprised by how good the A048's were.... and yes hard wearing... tyre pressures were key though.

The ao48'S are factory fit on the Lotus Exige S i've got & i must say they are fantastic tyres, even more so when warmed up & offer excellent levels of grip both on road & track

I had experience of the 888's before on a Caterham Superlight & felt that between the 2 the 48's were the better tyre but i wouldnt say there was a great deal of difference though

Either way though they both offer pretty much what you want from a trackday tyre which can still be used on the road ...... just dont push the car hard in the wet with them (obviously)
