Default help needed please and advice

Hello there im new to all this and would like some advice.

I have brought my dream 2wd flint grey sapphire she is mint

I have put gaz coil overs on her and poly bushed .

I have a set aside some extra cash for a 500 plus bhp engine and an uprated gear box + diff.

I called ABC motorsports as there local to me ( sussex ) and they said they could do this for me for 7 k , does this sound good??? and has anyone used them who can say if there any good or not ?

Also although im keen keen keen to get this done i dont want to rush in to it.

Are there any other tuners in my area or bit further who could quote me or you guys would recomend..

And finally abc said i would need a gt 40 turbo .. This seems rather large as i have been reading up on this ...

Thanks for any advice / help

I think you could get it done for less mate but Im not sure.

GT40 seems big for 500bhp, gt35 should do it.

welcome

when you say 500+ you really need to decide what you want as the + is going to be expensive.

firstly is the car going to be a road or track car?

you wont get an engine build, diff and box for 7k i'm afraid, not though a company anyhow

you're best phoning some of the top YB engine tuners as quotes will vary depending on the route chosen

i think Mark Shead at MA developments charges 10k for a a 500hp motor not including turbo

give these a call, in no particular order

1) mark @ ma developments
2) tony @ turbo systems
3) tommy field
4) Norris motorsport
5) Reyland

dont rush into it!

Matt

Thank you very much for your advice ... Do i take it i should give Abc motorsports a miss. Also his advice on turbo was wrong then i take it ??? and price i should be looking around 12 k ??

I really want this done and asap and to be honest i would rather pay more and have it right once..

Ok sorry for all the questions but is abc my only local tuner ?? has anyone used them ??? good bad ?? and reading on MAD should this be a safe bet ..and at the moment i think there the second closest to me ..

I suppose ill just have to commit to find out ???

Also is it true i need something called a Swedish plenum for this ?? I was advised this also by abc..

if you do a search on here, you will find loads of threads regarding peoples opinions on what to use. your budget needs to be around 15k,depending on what spec you want.dont forget you will need to upgrade the brakes and suspension ect ect.
if you are spending lots of money, then why not spend a bit more and get the car sent to someone who knows what they are doing.distance should not be a issue.
martin from reyland , will give you a quote on all the parts you need, and it will be a proven package that will work and be reliable.

Stu does not build engines as far as i am aware! The people that would build you a strong 500 bhp engines!you do not need a swedish inlet!Small turbo escos one or a 500 one will do it i woud would try too go with either of these as they are o.e!Also a T4 will give you 500 bhp!

I still say either

Tony turbosystems

Karl @ NMS

Reyland

Mark Shead MADevelopments

Paul;

as you can see above, Mark has responded

Mark Shead is MA Developments - send him a PM message and discuss options and i incorrectly quoted 10k as he pointed out to me

ps: give ABC a miss; still with the tried and tested tuners

Have just been surching the net and there are another two or 3 companies local ish to me that advertise to build engines / race engines but not specificly cosworth ...and 2 of them have engine dynos... Do you think it would be worth asking the question ?

I no what you mean but is it not worth asking the question or is a cosworth engine that specilist ...

Just asking for reference as some of the companies down this way advertise for race engines with dyno facilities.

And im asking as well because fitting my suspention took over 2 weeks and this should give you an idea of how much i no about cars lol

The Cosworth engine is not that specialised but to make HP/TQ and make it reliable is where the expereance comes in to it.

the cost will depend alot on how good the donor engine is an how many of the original parts have to be replaced such as head block crank etc
A pf member has a proper engine for sale that is new and complete and too cheap IMO
search for a certain mint 3 door that is being broken

As Mark stated, your nearest well established engine builder is Julian Godfrey who builds alot of the big power Rallycross engines with lots of experience and highly regarded.

I'm having my engine built currently by Mark Shead at MA Developments... very impressed do far!!!

On another note... is that your real name?! It's the same as mine and we're in the sameish area!!! Just thought it was a bit spooky that's all!!!

Mark Shead without a doubt, at risk of sounding repetitive.
