Unhappy HELP !!!!!

if you have 9 points on your licence and u get another 3 what happens? is it a definate ban or can it be a large fine? do the courts take work into consideration?

They can take work into consideration, but in most cases, it doesn't wash. They take the view that if you valued your job that much, you shouldn't have that many points etc.

I'm not sure what a totting up ban is these days. 6 months?

if it was one offence for a lot of points, you have a chance of an appeal. but if you've got four lots of three points the chances of an appeal working are very slim.

hi some one i know got 12 points accumilation and had a job fitting roller shutters he got his employer to write a letter stating that if he got a ban he would lose his job they gave him a hefty fine and banned him for a week so he kept his job that way but that was about 10-15 years ago now

But remember less than 56 days ban and you keep the points so youll be running round with 12 points so no leeway. Where as full 6 month ban, the points are gone for totting up purposes.

My bro was going to get banned under totting up, all for speeding, he stated he needed his car for work and they let him keep his license if he paid a higher fine.
Personally I think it is disgusting, it should be the same for all, not a different level of justice depending on how rich you are.
If my bro had got taxis everywhere it wouldn't even have dented his loose change kitty, I am anoyed he did not get banned.
So yes courts can take things into account if they want, even 30 over is NOT an auto ban as it was not in his case, 111mph in a 70.

im a driver for a living, 3 people i work with have 12 points, all of them went to court n was let off because of their job,

ive gotta agree with tab on this 1, 12 points should mean a ban
