sounds right for a stage 3 with a .48 housing - although it should start spooling before that.

if you take the exhaust eblow off, the size of the housing is stamped on the inside.

Standard T3 should be almost full boost at 3000rpm, yours sounds like a Stage 3 to me the bigger turbine wheel makes it laggy.

your turbo wont "kick in" at 3800rpm, it probably reaches peak boost at 3800rpm

the turbo will make boost alot earlier, but reaches peak boost at 3800rpm

i suspect you have a bigger exhaust housing on the turbo which makes it laggy

what the rest of the spec of the engine including cams?

yeah thats what i mean mate peak boost.
not sure on the spec of block and head,i assume standard.has original engine and done genuine 42k miles.car was locked away for 15 years.
it has a kent cvh 35 cam so i was told and vernier pulley, pipercross air filter, not sure wot make exhaust, doesnt say. front mount radtec intercooler and a chipped ecu.
car was last set up last year at TOTD and made 181.1bhp and 199lb ft torque.ive added the front mount intercooler since then and boost has been raised to 15 psi from the 10 psi it was recorded at.(fuelling was adjusted to match aswell)

Cant really compare a Cossie runing a T34 to a S2 running a T3, two completely different engines and two completely different turbo's!

personally i'd hate a rs turbo that didnt reach peak boost unit 3800; it must be a very short power band - does it tail off top end?

i suspect the turbo isnt suited to your spec; that must be torque steer city!

IMO rs turbo's should be punchy; not lag monsters

My brothers S1 had a stage 3 CR Turbo's T3 and made peak boost at about the same (3800rpm) and yeah it is too late really, as you say a very short power band!
I have opted for a Stage 2, standard turbine so no more lag but bigger compressor to produce more boost faster.

the t3, and t34.48, share the same core, the same exhaust housing.

all that differs is the compressor wheel and housing.

hardly"completly"different.

although i would imagen the yb does have a much higher VE than the rst, which would definatly effect how it makes boost.

doesnt tail off at all really ,it pulls all way to rev limiter then bangs a flame out lol.could do wiv few more rpm really.it is a bitch for torque steer.really have to hold on tite.quite dangerous with on comin traffic.a few times it has torque steered in to wrong lane.

IIRC a standard T3 has a .36 exhaust, and only the Stage 3 T3's come with a .48 and that is why they are so laggy by comparison.
As you say the VE is completely different and the amount of exahust gasses flowing out of a 2.0 YB would spool a T3 .36 or .48 up to your desired boost in no time at all compared to a little 1.6 CVH, which is why we cant really compare the two.

I had a stage 3 cossie 4x4 turbo on my RST many moons ago.. Turbo didnt kick in till high up the revs.. Was running piper t2 cams.. So Binned them fitted a New STD Cam turbo spooled up much better and made better power on Jamsports Rollers.. 225hp

yeah ive always said a cam in an rs turbo is better with low down grunt instead of high up rev range

Agree with you there fella's standard cam all the way, it flows more lower down in the rev range and so will spool up the turbo quicker reducing your lag! Just what you need if your running a T3 with a bigger turbine wheel/housing!

all this made me go dig out the graph and it was more like 2600rpm pulling hard and that wasnt with a standard cam
