ive got a receipt for a new turbo on my s2 from ayear ago.doesnt say what spec it is.it is a hybrid tho.not sure if stage 1 ,2 or 3.(it is a t3)
also had a -34 actuator fitted at same time.
mine kicks in around 3800rpm!!
is this laggy,my old s2 kicked in alot earlier with a standard turbo.it does kick in very hard aswell.

the turbo will make boost alot earlier, but reaches peak boost at 3800rpm
i suspect you have a bigger exhaust housing on the turbo which makes it laggy
what the rest of the spec of the engine including cams?

your turbo wont "kick in" at 3800rpm, it probably reaches peak boost at 3800rpm

not sure on the spec of block and head,i assume standard.has original engine and done genuine 42k miles.car was locked away for 15 years.
it has a kent cvh 35 cam so i was told and vernier pulley, pipercross air filter, not sure wot make exhaust, doesnt say. front mount radtec intercooler and a chipped ecu.
car was last set up last year at TOTD and made 181.1bhp and 199lb ft torque.ive added the front mount intercooler since then and boost has been raised to 15 psi from the 10 psi it was recorded at.(fuelling was adjusted to match aswell)

i suspect the turbo isnt suited to your spec; that must be torque steer city!
IMO rs turbo's should be punchy; not lag monsters

I have opted for a Stage 2, standard turbine so no more lag but bigger compressor to produce more boost faster.

My brothers S1 had a stage 3 CR Turbo's T3 and made peak boost at about the same (3800rpm) and yeah it is too late really, as you say a very short power band!

all that differs is the compressor wheel and housing.
hardly"completly"different.
although i would imagen the yb does have a much higher VE than the rst, which would definatly effect how it makes boost.

doesnt tail off at all really ,it pulls all way to rev limiter then bangs a flame out lol.could do wiv few more rpm really.it is a bitch for torque steer.really have to hold on tite.quite dangerous with on comin traffic.a few times it has torque steered in to wrong lane.

the t3, and t34.48, share the same core, the same exhaust housing.
all that differs is the compressor wheel and housing.
hardly"completly"different.

As you say the VE is completely different and the amount of exahust gasses flowing out of a 2.0 YB would spool a T3 .36 or .48 up to your desired boost in no time at all compared to a little 1.6 CVH, which is why we cant really compare the two.

all this made me go dig out the graph and it was more like 2600rpm pulling hard and that wasnt with a standard cam
