HKS Piston
My mate is thinking of buying Pulsay GTIR that has melted a piston. It has had a HKS piston kit and he is trying to track down somewhere that will sell just one piston rather than a kit.
Anyone know of somewhere, everywhere ive looked just does the kits
Thanks

I can see HKS list two kits one is std bore and one is 1mm oversized. What exactly is the difference between a std piston and a HKS one?
If it has a std bore kit could he get away with using a std piston intead of HKS one to get it running?
Also is the engine in a pulsar the same as in a 200sx ?

There is no way I would get involved in mixing pistons. The 2 sizes depend on where the engine is in its life. Obviously a brand new block can take a standard piston, whereas a block thats covered mileage and then gets rebuilt will be machined oversize and would need the 1mm pistons.
Yes, the SR20 engine in the Pulsar is essentially the same as the SR20 engine in the 200SX, but there are differences, so again, I wouldn't suggest trying to do anything other than pulling that engine apart, then making an analysis of whats happened. If a single piston will solve it, then you'd need numbers off the pistons that are in there. But then there's the issue of what to do with the rings.
My opinion on it is, if its blown a piston, it's rebuild time.

For what's involved if the price is right, just buy a SET of pistons, whip the motor out and freshen it all up.
I dare say if it's running HKS pistons already it's also got some other toys on there...
