Sounds about right,an escort cosworth would need 150bhp more than the impreza for the 2 cars to be even round the track

Do they not realise it was a dramatisation not a real race anyway?

From what Ive heard, a lot of the footage you see of clarkson driving was from when sheady was hammering it around before anyway

As said, shamelessly staged and edited so wouldn't matter if it was a 700hp+ Escos.

Indeed, topgear is a drama not a documentary, you cant take anything on it seriously, its just entertainment not actually educational.

I love it, for exactly that reason, It's ugly, fast and handles well! I've had a 'few' problems I won't deny it, But thats to be expected with a 15+ year old performance car, which why I said my first comment

If I ever got a cossie, it would be in the shape of a 3dr though..

Not so they both lapped that circuit within .1 sec on the day & then decided to film/act out a draw.

lookin at the video I'd be very surprised if there was a 150hp difference between the two, unless its edited/staged extreemly to make it not look like it. If the ecos had much more power, it doesn't show it at the start.

I have no doubt it is, but the cossie must have been holding back off the line if it were +50% power.

The impreza was 300bhp and the escort was 400 and something bhp.
The impreza weighs 250 kilos lighter and has better brakes and suspension, along with the fact it has far better gear ratios.
I have a type r impreza like the one in the video with a bit more power and they are awesome cars, better than an escort in most areas.
They are 300bhp out of the box, close ratio box which tops out at around 130mph and have a standard 0-60 of 4.4 secs.
