depends how the limiter works.
most cut the spark, trouble is your still injecting nitrous with no spark to ignite it, so you end up with a load of nitrous in the combustion chamber and inlet manifold, then when you come back off the limiter, you get a spark and bang, all the nitrous ignites at once and tries to find an easy way out, usually the plastic inlet manifold or an intake pipe.

if the limiter cuts the fuel it will run extremely weak and hole a piston.

you can get rpm window switchs that can be used to cut the nitrous at a certain rpm.

It's like a speed activated relay.. it comes on after a certain point, and switches off at a certain point.. gives you a 'window' of operation, which is typically what you want with nitrous.

I'd expect somewhere like Jegs to sell them though!

edit: going by ebay.com, seems all the main companies make them.. NX, MSD, Zex etc.
