i've built up my engine and now finally got it on the road its a 1.6 cvh, with twin 40's on it xr2i cam, ported polished head, four branch and a vernier pulley. runs and drives fine untill it hits 5000-5500 rpm then it missis and sluters like theres not enough fuel getting to the carbs. i turns the regulator up abit and it made it worse. some times this does not happen and it pulls strrong all the way up to 6k.

any ideas? please help

 

get it to a tuner ,and have a set up

 

aldon automotive have already done it. ment to be the best around the mids for carb set ups

 

take it back to them.

i had twin 40's on my xr2 nothing but grief!!!does it stutter when you give it full beans through all the gears and say u get to 3rd gear it then stutters at 5k

1st to 2nd is fine. revs perfect. 2nd at 5000rpm and some times in 3rd. typical ford problem its very temprimental, lol

 

is she spitting back through the carbs when you are driving?

thats ok as long as she settle down when warm!problem with twin 40's u always need to balance them!sounds like its running out of fuel to me!i presume you have fitted a electric pump?

 

yep, a facet gold top. fuel regulator is on 2.5 psi tried it at 3 and it was worse. any ideas?

 

could be a number of things tbh!wrong jets in the carb etc!!really needs to go back or put on a r/r for a set up

 

My old one used to run like a bag a crap till i had it setup properly on the rollers so as everyone else if you have had it setup then get it back to them asap
