Default Not kicking in

i had trouble with my alternator, that is fixed now
but when driving down the road, my car seems to not kick in, it a escort 1.8i
even when my foot is to the floor there seems to be no get up and go
i have changed the spark plugs as that was done 2yrs ago
any help on this wood be great

had same problem on an old escort Si 1.8 - turned out to be the Air Flow Meter - i'd go to pull away from a junction or onto a roundabout and the car would have no power at all then all of a sudden kick in...very dangerous especially when your not expecting it.

air leak after the MAF?spark plugs (2 years is a while!!!)?but to be fair your description is hardly in depth!it could be any of a MILLION separate things!

car starts fine, but when pulling off it kinda holds back then all of a sudden it wood go even with my foot to the floor it takes a while to get up to speed

check you air flow meter is attached properly and no splits in pipework between maf and inlet.

might sound a fully question but where wood i look for that to see if it is loose

the air flow meter is the plastic box with wires going to it (check these are also fitted correctly) that is attached to the airbox or air filter,whichever you have fitted.the other end is then attached to pipework which leads to the throttle body on the inlet manifold.make sure it is all attached to each other properly,no gaps or pipes or wires unattached etc.

ive checked all cables, pipes no gaps air filter is connected, the only thing i dont have working is my a/c.
