Default Yet another member ripped off...

Hi,

Well unfortunately i've been ripped off by another member on here too

. I bought some wheels from mercurygreyrsturbo which arrived 3 weeks ago. I've attached a link to the ad so you can see how they were described and, if your like me, I was expecting the wheels to be in pretty good shape with maybe the odd little scrape here or there..

Well how wrong was I, every wheel has been badly refurbished and a DIY job at that, as there is still filler and damage evident around each rim and the silver spray used is a different colour to the original and is not laqured so they have a two tone appearance. Certainly not "as new" with "no damage"..

I have tried to contact him through this site and the last message I had from him was 2 weeks ago say he will sort it out. I paid through Paypal but nievely did it as a gift to avoid any fees on both sides and now of course I cannot raise a dispute as, according to Paypal, I did not purchase any goods or services..

The only details I have are his sisters name, address and phone number, which I needed for the courier, and I think it was her paypal account as well. It's a womans' name anyway.

Just wanted to get this off my chest and to warn anyone else who might buy something of this asshole. Live and learn and all that.

If anyone knows any well priced placed in Berkshire that can refurb them for me I would appreciate any details you have.

here's the ad

thanks for reading.

the rims looked quite chipped for wheels that have never been fitted

I'm having problems with a PF member over some goods that I bought six months ago that aren't fit for purpose, and still can't get my money back.....no name and shame though - yet.

But if it carries on much longer, I will.

yeah one or two chips, apart from that the wheels pictured in the add look in very good condition?
The wheels you actually got are different according to your description?

i think these type of situations all boils down to one persons "mint/brand new etc" is different to someone else's

The ad and pictures are contradictory... Pictures do clearly show the damage but he states:

"please note any little dark patches on wheels is dirt or mud here i sat them on the grass, there are no scuffs or marks."

I must admit I did read this thread, and I looked at the wheels and thought they didn't look as bad as you now have realised they are.

I have a Brand New set for sale for Ł400 in the boxes with centre caps and wheel bolts and metal valves, and when I saw these had sold I was suprised mine hadn't.

I hope you sort something out, if you lived near me I could get all four refurbished for about Ł120

layed on the grass?concrete more like. if it was mud,why would you not just wipe it off before? for sale ads are what sells them so it needs to be as good as poss.

blantently chipped imo.

not a good situation.

this is why im 100 per cent honest when selling parts.

its not passionfords fault but since it was through passionford it does let everyone else know so they dont get caught out.

it looks like the same wheel taken in 4 different places.

its diff as they do show damage ( i think its the same alloy 4 times ) the the other 3 might be worse but he did say no scuffs or marks so i would have questioned that as there is

If your paying out decent money for parts i would make a road trip as i have done with parts i have purchased in the past,
To me the extra money on fuel is well spent than having an expensive paper weight
Even get them to meet you half way ,
There are plenty of dodgy people out there quite happy to part you of your cash,

The 'dirt' on the pics is actually that. The wheels I have have been badly repaired and refurb'd. In fact there are a few marks that are not shown on the pictures that I can see so it would not suprise me if the pictures are from when he got them, before they were 'fixed up'..

If someone tells me they are in good order and are openly selling on here then you would like to think they would be somewhere near what they are saying. If they'd been for sale on ebay I would have been more vigulant, as I said lesson learned...
