Default whats a decent electric shower ?

ok, i bought a electric shower a few months ago, i must admit we do use it alot and i take very very long showers

anyway the thermo cut out switch kept kicking in, that was the time i started comming out the shower, now its cut out and aint sorted its self, turns out after searching the net its comon and they wont sell it as a spare part

SO, i need a half decent shower, electric that will take some use and not pack up, any ideas

PS: must be electric only as i dont have the water presure out of the tank for a real decent shower,,,, but my mains water is the bollox

ideas please if you can

if you don't have the water pressure, you may need a pump to increase it

we had a power shower type thing in this house but after a while the pressure fluctuations drove me mad with it going hot and cold all the time so one of the plumbers bolted in a pump which seemed to have solved the problem

this was when we had a water tank

now it's direct from the mains there isn't a problem at all

Good choice m8 especially the pumped version, we only fit the aqualisa and never ever have problems, which when i think how many i have fitted in the last 10 years is pretty good.

Mira sport 10kw or will is what you want.....Or any decent electric shower as long as it is 10kw +

You may have to upgrade the cable running to it back to the fuse board.....

Remote showers are so that you can get it up to temp and power before you get in it, without getting wet........

Usually you have to reach through the shower spray to turn them on.....thus getting wet.

Its like saying why do you want a remote controlled TV....

he only asked for a half decent one, 1, there quite expensive imo for a half decent one, 2, with the size of it he might have to upgrade the cable meaning more cost

9.5 or 10kw if its a 6mm cable is the maximum depending on cable length run. anything 10kw + are usually really good but u will need to upgrade supply cable to a 10mm then u can have what u want. but mira sport are good showers its all we install in work if needed

thats what i thought so why would you use 6mm on up to a 10kw shower

must be missing something here!

I did the calculation 8500/230 = 37amps

cable current capacities table 6e1 on-site guide -
6mm2 in thermal insulation etc = 32amps
10mm2 in thermal insulation etc = 43amps

like i said anything over 8kw and IMO its 10mm needed nevermind 6mm for a 10kw

you have a tv remote so you dont have to get off your fat arse. a remote for the shower to save you reaching in to turn it on is just pointless technology bollocks for the sake of it. shame, youll get your arm wet...your about to have a shower for fuck sake and it takes seconds to warm up

i already got 10mm cable as the shower i got was a test unit to see how it came out

now i know the water presure is there i was always planning to upgrade in the next few years,, turns out to be sooner though pmsl

i may need a new isolator switch too as its fooking hard to turn off,,, im guessing 1 hour showers make em get hot over time

But if every shower in 10 years time came with a remote control unit....it would become the norm....like TV remotes.

TV remotes are also "pointless technology bollocks for the sake of it"........But as they were forced upo us with EVERY tv set you bought, they are excepted.

Turning the TV over takes "Seconds" too

Mira E.I showers are very good, particularly 10kw +

Just make sure it is individually fused, and preferably run in 10mm ..

its got its own fuse at the fuse box down stairs, then a switch outside the bathroom( fucking anoying that as if i never needed that i could have done it with 5m of cable as the fuse box is under the bathroom almost,,,,, the nearest wall outside the bath room is the other end PLUS the boiler cuboard,,, so needed another 10m of cable just for that !!!!

So if you have a 10KWh shower and have 1 shower everyday for 1 hour that's........3650 units per year of electric just to shower. At 15p a unit that's £547.50p

I only use 6000+ units a year on everything and I consider that too much so am considering replacing the shower with a mixer shower that doesn't use electric.

worked out that since i got a plasma and electric shower my electric as trippled,,,,, since its stopped working its less than half

think it costs about 1quid a shower,,,, which i can afford if i eat beans on toast for a few days a week

fuck me how the hell you know about "units" cost,,,, have you really learned everything there is to know about life,,,, and just wanted some light reading over the holidays

btw living costs should be accepted,, im happy to spend what ever it costs to live, things like food, soap, toothbrush, petrol, electric, gas ect ect ect

i pay these with no thought of actual cost as it needs to be done,,, can see the point going to work for a wage and worrying about the price of a pint of milk then spend 45 quid on a mobile phone bill
