All it is, is taking out 1 or 2 leads and plugging them into the new unit? unless its a totally different headunit and the one thats coming out its very old and needs new wires etc, then its abit more tricky

Depending on your car you may have the standard ISO connectors in place which means plug and play, if not you can buy wiring adaptors to convert your cars loom to ISO. You may also need an aerial adaptor.

Dont think i had to buy anything, as the sony unit that was already in there wasnt THAT old, so the wiring was plug and play

This is what you want. A sony "Female" to ISO Male

Saying that, I'd be inclined to get rid of those connector blocks. Not hard to do. Get a meter / test probe. Then find out which of the terminals on the black plug are

Permanent feed (prob red)
Switched feed (prob yellow)
Earth (black or brown)
illumination (orange sometimes)
Aux/remote (blue)

Then find which of the 8 wires are for
LF + and -
LR + and -
RF + and -
RR + and -

Do that then come back to us. If you were closer, I'd come do it for a tenner.

ETA : that white plug as the wires cut on it?

The speaker wires are the white/green/purple/grey pairs.

Utter piece of cake sorting that mate, seriously.

all you need is a tester to show you what has power coming out of it when the ignition is off (permanent live) and what has power going to it when you turn the ignition on (switched ignition)

the rest, as chip says, is easy as matching wires to wires

why do people totally fuck a car loom with bodgit connectors for the sake of saving £10 for the proper lead?? makes no sense. On a £50 auction special i could understand it, but evo's arent cheap cars
