Default Can you park a crashed car on the road?

Some guy who lives on my mums road buys unrecorded salvage cars, does them up and sells them.
i have no problem with this, we all need to earn a living,

but last year he started leaving a car on the road, fair enough one car, no big deal,

over the last year he now has atleast 4 out on the road parked up at a time, and these are cars been in big smashes, ie no bumper left and sharp metal left sticking out, etc.

i really think its a piss take to park them out on the main road,

legaly a car must be tax'd and insured to be left on the public road
i doubt very much that he will have insurance for them all
and if they're recorded as damaged they wont have tax
so just by them rules they shouldn't be there
plus anyfin with jagged edge etc cant be left unprotected in case somebody(kids etc) hurt themselves on it

we had an abandoned car outside our workshop, we rang the police and one came to see it,

it wasnt taxed, but he said it wasnt causing any issues so they wouldnt move it...he told us to set fire to it, so it was dangerous, then it would be moved the same day.

I would go straight to the council. If you speak to him first, then go to the council, then he will know that you have grassed him up, and it could cause more grief for you in the future. Just speak to the council about it, see if they can have a polite word in his ear

Grass him, plus im sure your not allowed to earn an income from you residentail address unless you declare it. Have not got a problem with people earning a living but when it impacts on others in negative way takes the piss. Especially when make your area look like a shit hole.

the environmental health people will be on him like a ton of bricks, they dont like smashed up cars leaking fluids down the drains and being a fire hazzard.... theres several different reasons they dont allow this sort of thing , environment, fire, pedestrian and child safety etc they will put a stop to it.

the dvla website states that for the vehicle to be on the road it has to be motd and insured a minimum of third party and taxed not just to drive it,to be on the road full stop, and being insurance write offs i doubt there motd so should be off the road

even an mot and taxed car cant be parked on a public road if its badly crashed due to the risk to pedestrians from sharp edges and leaking fluids poluting the environment.if someone reports it to the council they will see to it thats its removed either by them or by the owner.

if the cars on a road within public highway or public right away then it must carry a minimum of 3rd party insurance
doesn't matter if your in it or not
trust me on this 1 as i have been charged with this exact charge

you cant park it on the public highway without an mot either, the police asked me to remove my 2nd van to around the corner as technically it shouldnt be there even though it was taxed and insured.they said if it was out of sight of the main road they wouldnt bother if it was on a side street though as it still carried the 2 main requirements...

mate no offence but a mk4 escort parked with no bumper looks pikey also, maybe your neighbours dont want old wanky escorts parked on there road lowering the tone of there area

we all need to remember what WE drive and how WE look to others when we are judging people,,,,,, im sure my neighbours LOVE having my scoobie start up at 7am ever morning with its big loud exhaust vibrating the windows,

why dont we just accept people and get on with our own lives UNLESS if affects us,,, having neighbours fixing cars,,, who smell or have babys crying IS anoying,, but its life,,, dont like it move to a area where the neighbours feel the same way imo

when i lived in wales i had a scrapyard, with crashed and burned out cars in it. I had no end of trouble from the people who lived around the area, also i used to take the truck home and park it at the bottom of the street (not near anybodys house) even so the kids used to play hell with it, smashing the headlights and mirrors sometimes, even letting the tyres down. They once even set fire to a car i had on the back of it (i just tied it to a lamp post and drove the truck out from under it and left the smoldering shell on the road after the fire brigade put it out, the neighbours wanted me to pick it back up and i told them to get f@#ked till the morning.
This guy is only trying to make a living like i was, the options open to you are to talk to him, call the local council, (useless) the cops (they will not do anything) or as said before the tax people they are employed by the crown, they are the ones that will make most trouble for him. Undeclaired earnings and the like. Or as also said set fire to the car, car,s as what happened to me, glad to say that i am out of the whole thing now living in OZ.

i think 1 covered car at a time is acceptable maybe one in his garage but to have more than that is taking the piss abit im pretty sure you cannot run a garage from your house i have a detached double garage with its own shared gated road and a neighbour used to do alot of work from it but was very respectful no cars were ever parked on the access road he made no noise after 7 hes now renting a unit due to high demand even now and the old main dealer he worked at is going under lol

on our deed it does state garages are not to be used as a works unit in any way but he never had any issues infact hes probably gained from it for being a nice approachable person

Escort is kept on private land -look theres a wooden fence covering it., and garaged as of en evening thank you.

I got no problem with people living their lives, i got no problem with people starting bikes at 6am, kids playing football in the road or babys crying, i just think the 4 heavily crashed motors on the road is a piss take, and its not a side street, my mum lives on a busy road.

ELVIS THATS THE POINT, you have a different opinion of whats acceptable, just cause its on private land may not make a difference to the areas look,,,, a old escort is a old escort to 90% of the people,

we had people complain where i lived that kids are hanging about outside making noise where the football pitch is and laughing/shouting ect ect ect

the council locked the football pitch and cut down the swings to stop us playing there,,,,,, guess what we all started doing due to being bored,, we broke into the football pitch, started finding other ways to keep busy/amused that was WORSE for the area

IMO let people be, hes earning a living, the cars are taxed so hes paied to be there,,,,,, find something else in life more important to worry about

imagine in the future you need to do something that others dont agree with ?

as i mentioned, loud exhausts are also a pain to most people yet im sure you aint gonna get it silenced to keep him happy or park your car somewhere else so it dont anoy ?

me neither...and smashed up cars are kid magnets in the first place.... an accident waiting to happen.
opinions on whats right, wrong or socially acceptible mean nnothing, report it to the council and it will be moved if its in a dangerous condition, simple as that. if it was just an abondoned undamaged but locked car, they wouldnt bother but smashed cars on the public highway will not be allowed to stay.
obviously relations with your neighbour will sour as he will suspect it was you but what will happen if someones child is injured? who will feel guilty then? or local chavs torch it because its smashed anyway?
cars with sharp dangerous edges are mot failures so they souldnt be on the road either way.

I'm guessing it'll have a cover over it anyway, as it'd be in his best interest as well.

Out of interest what type of cars are they?
