Hi guys,

I was given a brand new 2nd generation 32gb I-Pod Touch as an early xmas present and was wondering whether anyone on here knows whether the firmware on them is 'jailbreak'able' like the 1st generation ones as I have some apps I would like to buy and install however from my understanding it needs to be jail broken first in order to do this?

Note: for those who know me (know that I work for BlackBerry) and I haven't turned to the darkside as this is still just an MP3 player and not a Phone / PDA .....I am still happy with my BlackBerry Storm.

Any help is much appreciated.

Morning mate

The 3G iphone can be jailbroken, although it seems you are unsure what this actually means.

You can already buy and install apps for you iphone, through iTunes.

If you jailbreak, it means that you can put on very useful 3rd party applications that allow the iphone to do stuff that it cant natively. Ie forward texts, mms etc etc. Everything off the app store is available this way as well

IF you are going to stay on O2 network, then fine. An unlock solution hasnt been done yet AFAIK, but is being worked on and should be available in the new year.

I would upgrade to the latest firmware (2.2?), then set about jailbreaking.

Cheers for the reply though mate. I thought it was the case. I have the new 2n Gen Touch with f/w bundle 2.2 however brought an app online yesterday saying that it works on ver.2.2...it doesnt seem to work though....buggers! LOL
