hi all. my x box 360 has just packed up.Not the ring of death thing though.The screen went a bit blotchy so i turned it off then back on and all i get now is a black screen.Has anyone else had this happen to theirs?looks like output to tv has gone faulty.A bit of a downer really as the kids wont be able to play with their new games at christmas.

They all come with a 2year warranty dont they? but that doesnt help for christmas time i know

a pal of mine told me the extra warranty only applies to the red ring thing,but he could be wrong.i rang x box who said there system was down and to ring back after 5 hours(probably when hes finished his shift lol.)

Go and buy a new one(same model) and stick the faulty one in the box and return it for a refund. The store gets full credit from Microsoft so everyones a winner.

I had the same thing happen on my Elite just one month before the 12 month store warrenty run out. So went back to game and got a replacment there and then! Few....

mine went back the other week and came back from germany 1wk later. the motherboard went tits up and the disc drive.
my warrenty run out the other day only 1yr. so must only apply to the ring of death

the console is approx 1 month out of its 12 month warranty which i suppose i could moan about but the bigger problem is i bought it from woolworths!!!doh!!!

mine broke the other day, its one of the first ones with 3 year warrenty... but it doesnt cover whats happened to mine apparently.. one red light with an E74 error on my screen ''/

My sons PS3 stopped being able to read discs last week, he's had it for just under a year phoned up Playstation support and they're picking it up and dropping it back off repaired within 14 days

I have had my Xbox since launch and we also have an elite model and they have been fine. I have recently bought a PS3 and while it is decent, it does not hold a candle to the 360 for online gaming. Bar Blu Ray/internet browsing the xbox does everything the PS3 can and neither offers no quality in game graphics, play, innovation over the other.

Both are good machines and hopefully the PS3 online catches up soon.

Bamba, walk into Argos buy the same model of console you have, stick your faulty one in the box and get a refund. Problem solved without any hassle.

Also when you buy it from argos buy the one with the most games and take the disks out of the boxes .

You will look back, may be more reliable but its no way near as good a games console. 360 pisses all over it and who really wants to spend most time browsing the web on a PS3, no thanks I had enough of that in the days of the Sega Dreamcast.

Mine blew this month (topic about it in IT/Gaming section) and it was back in 2 weeks, all I had to do is pick up the phone and box it they collected and did the rest. No problem considering how good its been (Xbox live) for 1 year!

My mate at work had this happen to his, he rang up and told them it has the ring of death and he got his replacement Friday (1 week and 1 day after sending it) ..no questions asked. I bet they dont even test them...or if they do then just claim it must have been damaged in the post.

Either way you'll get a fresh xbox....good luck.
