Default Wales GB.

Just loaded up the pics from the weekends Wales GB Rally. It wasn't the best Rally TBH. We got there around midnight on Thursday at Sweet Lamb to be greeted by the Welsh police telling us we couldn't let any fireworks off I was sooo looking forward to the Rally being back in mid Wales. Never mind eh, we made the most of it & woke up to a FRESH morning with snow on the mountains to find that SS1 had been cancelled due to the FIA saying it's too icey

Enjoy the few pics....

We stayed there for the 2 runs thru & on the 2nd run i was on camcorder duty You could clearly see Loeb was pushing & on the down hill section he has a little moment at high speed but kept it together. Then Mikko came thru & you could see it was gonna end up with him either being fastest or end in a off, it ended up in a 4minute off which the marshalls didn't have a clue & wouldn't let the spectators near the car to help, once they realised he was stuck the spectators were called upon to get him out.

That was the end of Friday as it took 3 hours to get from Mid Wales to Swansea due to traffic etc We arrived at SA1 service & it was an utter joke so called it a day & head back to the forest for Saturday.

Saturday was alot different to Friday, no Rain just a nice sunny day to watch the action....

You can see the TV crew doing the TV footage for Dave

The new Suzuki is a superb World Car...

Rossi did very well

Off to service for the 1st time & see what trouble i could get into being in places i shouldn't be in

Subaru getting ready for Petter..

Behind the Citreon area getting Seb's new bumber ready....

Then the cheeky part, i walked around M-Sport & know one spotted me...

Suspension for each corner....

Mikko's door after rolling....

Jari's suspension....

More of Mikko's damage...

Behind Subaru...

Gwyndaf congratulating Guy on his 2nd Championship...

Millionaires Car Park...

Sunday was an early start but couldn't be bothered taking pics, just the one of Walters Arena.

Back to Service

Then we heard Jari had been beaten by 2secs. All the mechanics were so disappointed after all there hard work all year round. First word Jari said when he arrived out the car at service was "Sorry guys"

Winner & Champion

Once the service was over The Boss went round each mechanice & personally thanked them for all there hard work

a quick pic of the new up & coming Barry Clark who i think is the new Richard Burns

Last but not least, the battered whip that did me proud

ROLL ON IRELAND IN JAN 09.

what sort of cost u looking at for doin ireland either on a daily basis or a full weekend pass? i kno rally GB is pretty much a rip off in comparison to other countries, as no other country seems to charge entry, but ireland im not sure, quite close to home etc

No mate, Felindre was an excellent service park as you well know. The money men have stepped in now, we had to walk a mile from the free car park to the service area.

Justin, send me a text with the details when you get chance mate.

serious?!

thats mad, what a joke that i had to pay 20quid for 1 stage on saturday (well 2 as its run twice), n that was the reduced price cos we paid on the gate, otherwise its like 30quid!!!

quite tempted to head over for the irish round then

whats the entry list normally like? cos the rally GB entry list seemed a bit thin on the ground, bit dissapointing

great footage as always mate

i havent been to a uk WRC rally for longer than i can remember, was probably sometime when margam park was run, the welsh tax is far too much for me to bother - total ridiculous prices and organisation.

I'll look at the calender mate & see if it's possible. Sweden would be the one id like to go to, then Monte then Finland.

I never went the stadium but we did hear it on the Rally Radio. They kept asking will Marcus be driving a Ford World car next year & all he replied was "No comment". Think he is in talks with Ford to do a few limited rounds of the Championship

Its nice to hear things like that, jari saying sorry to the crew for losing by 2 secs.
Watching on Tv you don't really get the sence of team work that must go into it .

That would be a good move for Subaru. I think Solberb has had his day sadly. They need someone who can give them results. He turned up at Sweet Lamb and stayed for a fair bit...

Few other pics i found behind the scene's

quality pics paul. I soo miss the rally now as havent been for 2 years now - i originally built the wrc.com website years ago and used to get vip tickets including pit passes, etc and you could walk anywhere in the service park - was great.

Gareth - wales is definately stunning. Going up the beacons with no fuel was certainly interesting.
