Default Focus Mk1 Central locking problem

Just after a bit of guidance regarding the wifes Focus 5dr Ghia. (99 T reg)

First thing in a morning when you unlock the car from the remote key, it unlocks and then starts to cycle (ie Lock/unlock) about 10 times.

Once the cars warmed up and been driven, it locks and unlocks fine.

Could it be one of the door motors playing up? Or is there a central locking module somewhere which plays up?

Doing her head in, and therefore she's doing mine in! LOL

Any ideas before i start ripping door panels off?

its possible there is a broken wire on one of the shut looms going to ground as they are often earth controlled, worth a look...

Yeah we know all about the two stage unlocking stuff, we have had the car 7 years, and its only just started giving us a few problems...

Some posts ive read is that the main central locking fuse contracts when its cold and causes erratic problems like ours? Dunno if theres any truth in that 'cos it only plays up when its really cold???

Also the fuel gauge has suddenly gone to tits as well, its all over the shop, sometimes reading full, when nearly empty... etc etc

Would that be the sender unit as i suspect?

could be the connection on the sender again worth a look,

my mrs has a weird issue with her locking, when you unlock the doors and drive off it fine, then all of a sudden it will lock itself after about 5 mins when its warmed up...only does it once first thing in the morning...

weird hey! maybe il have a look at the fuse

Check the earth for the locking module.
Module is behind drivers footwell r/hand side "a" pillar panel, mounted in front of the ECU, earth is on the inner sill just rear of the module, there are several earth points in that area.

Fuse is in the glovebox fuse unit F.63, BEHIND, where the plugs go in, remove 2 screws to drop out fuse holders or stand on your head, break your wrist and put it up behind the fuse unit with a mirror and torch.

does it do it with one press for just the drivers or when you press it twice for the whole car?
my mk1 ghia use to do it cus the passenger door module was broken so it would get confused and try and re-lock itself like mentioned above.
if its doing it with only one press then i'd guess something up with the drivers module seeing as thats all it deals with when you only press it once.

Get the wd40 out, and lube up all the locks, hinges and cables ect. You will need to take the door panels off tho.

Just a sticky motor, my old focus used to do exactly the same!
